The best idea I've heard lately.
An open, landed area or a large walled structure and you are out of ideas or otherwise befuddled. Post the dimensions, grade, needs, structural problems etc on a page that's announcing a Design Contest!
Now, post it heavily and openly at the local Design or Architectural School and the contest winner nets the starving student $100-$200 or so.
It takes them low time on their folks-paid CAD systems, you get a lot of ideas to draw from with ideas you may never have considered and you are out low money.
