I am not promoting my business. We are a small business in Harrisburg PA. Answering questions across all 50 states is not my idea of the best way to market. I have seen a lot of messy garages and have solved a lot of problems for homeowners. As I was going through the forums I noticed there were a lot of people with garage organization questions/problems. Just thought I would help out.

Your best bet to keep people stop thinking you are trying advertise for free is to wait until someone asks a question in their own thread and then offer some free advice kinda like the rest of us. But if you want to give some general tips that would be good to. Myself i need to come up with a good solution for all of my stuff that either isn't permanent or is cheap enough that i don't mind leaving it behind since i am a renter for the time being.

There are a couple options you have. If you are going to use cabinets instead of attaching cabinets to the wall. Use casters or legs. If you were looking for something like wall panels. There are wall panels that can be hung using a hang up system which allows you to take them down and use them again without having extra holes in it if the studs don't line up the next time. If cheap is the way you want to go Home Depot has a wall panel system that is inexpensive in comparison to competition. This comes in 4x8 sheets. And then you purchase the accessories you want. Peg board is another cheap option but doesn't offer the strength the wall panels have.

Man, there is a ton of slat wall on CL here in Seattle. 4x8 sheets for 10 bucks.

that and using the name of your business as your fourm username makes you look like a self promoting spammer, even if the guy has the best intentions in the world. Should have a normal username and put your URL in your signature.

Totally agree. Everyone should stop banging the man until his reposnes prove he merits it. Then bang away!

As for the slat wall. I'd love to use it but I've seen two type and both are more expensive than my pocket book once you add in all the specialty hanger you have to use with it. One type has an aluminum extrusion lining the slot and the other does not. The type WITHOUT the aluminum is cheaper of course but if you over load it, its only particle board under the surface and a big chunk breaks out. Makes your nicely organzied garage look like cr@p. No way to fix it except pull the entire 4x8 sheet off and replace it - no thanks.

The cleanest thing I've seen is drywalled or even plywood covered walls with owner designed and installed wood or metal bracketry custom made for whatever item(s) he is hanging up. Looks great, but of course is not fast or easy.

I'm in the process of ordering stuff for my Garage. I just ordered Racedeck flooring and for the walls I ordered Storewall panels. Boy are they expensive but I wanted a finished look. a box of 15 inch by 8 feet panel is 200 (4 in a Box). I endind up needing 11 boxes came to over 2K then with all the accessories like the various hanging kits my total came to $2800.

I'm planing on posting pics once the project is done. One problem I had was what to do with the large Thule Cargo Box I had. I ended up getting a hitch system made by Thule to lift it up to the ceiling. However, I had a question I can't install this over where my SUV would park because the railing for the garage door opener goes there. Where is it recommended to put this? Also I need to do molding below the wall material and above the racedeck. What kind of molding is recomended?

Switch your garage door opener to a Liftmaster 3800, that fits on the end of the tension rod by the front wall, and you can use the space between the door rails for whatever you want.

Yes the slotwall pictured is the one I was referring to. It is located in the aisle with the paneling. At our local home depot it is in a horizontal shelf under the regular paneling. I am sure if you asked they would be able to point you in the right direction.

StoreWALL is one of the products we carry nice choice...great strength but yes the cost goes with it! Racedeck flooring is also another nice choice. We don't carry that product but it is a great one. You must of done a lot of homework.

For molding our customers usually prefer a vinyl cove molding. Since you have to leave a slight gap at the edge of the wall for expansion/contraction of the flooring. The cove moldings slight angle covers this quite nicely. It is virtually unseen. Another option is traditional moldings with a 1/4 round edging to completely cover gap. Vinyl cove is much cheaper and has a great look. I will post a picture of a completed floor done in a similiar product but will give the idea of what it would look like.

The cargo box issue. I don't know the layout or dimensions of your garage so it would be a tough question to answer. Some more details would definantly help.
