Totally agree. Everyone should stop banging the man until his reposnes prove he merits it. Then bang away!
As for the slat wall. I'd love to use it but I've seen two type and both are more expensive than my pocket book once you add in all the specialty hanger you have to use with it. One type has an aluminum extrusion lining the slot and the other does not. The type WITHOUT the aluminum is cheaper of course but if you over load it, its only particle board under the surface and a big chunk breaks out. Makes your nicely organzied garage look like cr@p. No way to fix it except pull the entire 4x8 sheet off and replace it - no thanks.
The cleanest thing I've seen is drywalled or even plywood covered walls with owner designed and installed wood or metal bracketry custom made for whatever item(s) he is hanging up. Looks great, but of course is not fast or easy.
