Garage Overhead Door question

This may be a really stupid question, but I live in a really cold climate and is it possible for me to tack all the panels in place before installing the hardware? I would use good long screws and proper brackets, not just nails bent over like I see in all the videos. That way I could block out the cold and put the hardware on in the warmth with my bullet heater. I've only ever installed one door, and it the directions say to put the hardware on the top of the section before placing the door in the opening and tacking it in place. Thank you.

You can do it. However you should attach the bottom brackets on the bottom door section before you begin stacking the panels. You should also read this discussion about using a bullet heater in an enclosed or partially enclosed space:

I think I would tack some furring streps and a tarp or heavy visqueen over the opening, then start by erecting the rails. You could probably even use some thin osb to temporarily seal the opening so some heat can be retained.

Once the rails are up and roughly adjusted, prop up the first section and hinges, Then work your way up. I think we loosely installed the torsion spring and rod before we installed the top panel. The instruction. Which we didn’t have, will help..

Don’t worry too much about the torpedo heater, but do use common sense. I think it took me and the high school kid from down the street around four hours to erect a used double wide door, with no instuctions, including the opener and tearing out the old door and loading it on the car trailer
