After living in the house for 12 years, I'm tired of the white paint in the garage. I've seen some awesome paint schemes on various threads, but it's hard to do a search and find them. If you have pictures of your garage paint, and don't mind sharing them, I would love to see them. Thanks in advance. Andy

By the time you get it filled you won't see much of it if you are like me:

In for updates. I was thinking about grey and black with a little orange, but I'd like to see what other folks are doing.

Grey on the bottom for dirt, then a blue stripe that has way too many outlets, 240v, 120v and compressed air, and white for the upper walls and ceiling for light reflection.

I spent a lot of time thinking about the paint scheme for my new shop, but in the end, my wife actually came up with the final color combination. I'm very pleased with the results. If you go to my build thread, Post #116: www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=98038&page=6
and a few posts before #116, there is a detail description of how to get the stripe painted. The procedure described works great!

It's difficult to see in the photos, but the area above the green stripe is actually a VERY, VERY pale green that compliments the darker green.

I went with yellow and grey. I kept the top half white to keep it bright. It wasn't exactly what I had in mind for the yellow, but once it was done I liked it.

Like Jim said, once you start using it and filling it with all your junk you hardly see the walls. If you went in mine right now you would hardly notice what color it is.

We just painted one of our garages in a gallery taupe color (not Khaki!) with black shelving. We left the ceiling white to tie in with the white trim and door then added black foot board molding to tie in with the black shelving. The contrast came out real nice in our opinion!

One of the first pics that I came to in my PB account.

White ceiling, dark gray at the bottom and white at the top of the walls. As you can tell, it's broken up by a blue stripe.

Andy, Up until last spring, I was thinking the samething as you. Here's what I came up with; ANYTHING is better than the faded salmon color from the previous owner!

Kind of humorous that more & more car shows I watch on TV, I see either the same or very similar paint scheme to mine...

Here's the before...during...and after

HTH,
Will

Looks great! Awesome color combo!

HTH,

Here in Buckeye Country nearly everyone's garage and/or at least one room in their house is red and gray.

My house has gray siding, white trim, and burgundy shutters. I'm thinking of going with something similar to yours, but using burgundy instead of red for the stripe.

What's the magic height of the stripe on the walls?

Every time I've ever tried that it either looked to low, or to high.

I'm finishing out mine now and was going to attempt a stripe again.

Hi Spotco2,
The bottom of my red stripe is 52" up from the floor. It's 2 3/8" wide.
