Great looking progress, I like the alley-way style of that neighborhood too. What are the specifics of the old and new garage (size etc)?

Hi,

The old garage was about 12'x18'. It was severely rotted with a leaky roof, and the slab was only 1" thick in some areas. The slab also sloped toward the back of the garage and presented no barrier whatsoever to moisture from the soil underneath. It had wooden slat siding and a wooden door as you could see, with one outlet and some scary 3-wire knob and tube electrical. I could barely fit on either side of the car when I was working on it, not to mention fit any tools in there. Getting underneath was also challenging because the slab was cracked and uneven.

New garage is 24x24 with a 4" thick reinforced slab and a vapor barrier. I plan to coat it with an epoxy coating once the roof is on it. It will be stick built with 2x6s and will have a small attic space for storage. It will also have a parking space next to it for which I intend to eventually finish with pavers and a trellis to provide some shade (building code won't let me go bigger and I can't have another covered structure). I am planning on at least one 30A 220V circuit, at least one 20A 110V circuit for tools, and at least one 20A 110V circuit for lights and garage door opener. Door will be 18' wide and outside will be Hardiplank or Hardishingles (Hardiplank is cheaper and I need to compare some other costs to see). I will insulate it and finish with dry wall painted white for lots of light. I don't intend to heat it (yet).

I've been dealing with a basement shop for about 4-5 years and I've got a heap of car parts that I've collected for a neglected car, so this playroom is long overdue. I am so eager to finish this project. Waiting for the concrete to be finished is irritating.

Thanks for looking.
