Now that I have been in the new house for a full year I finally decided to take on the garage project I have been putting off. It's far from finished but I thought I would share photos of the progress. Any further advice or suggestions would be welcomed.

Before Pics:

Overview:

Right side of main garage was sloppy and unorganized:

3rd car garage was blah:

Prior owner painted the floor but it was not epoxy and was starting to peel:

Step 1:
removed everything from walls. Patched scuff marks and holes in drywall. removed workbench. (My impala is so long it wouldn't fit on that side of the garage.) Then painted the walls a light grey color. I really wanted it a little darker but 5 gallons of this paint was free. A friend of mine works at a paint store and this was accidentally mixed as the wrong color for a customer. Lucky me.

Discarded old workbench. upgraded some hardware. Since this photo was taken I have my air compressor where the golf bag is:

I put new Craftsman cabinets in place of the ugly plastic ones that were above the workbench on the 2 car side.

Time for epoxy floor. Old paint would not come off easily so I got a concrete grinder to it. Quick and easy removal but certainly back breaking. After doing a small section the dust was completely unbearable. There was so much dust I couldn't see more than about 4 feet in front of me. Easy solution was to get the water hose and keep each section wet as I was grinding.

Let's roll the epoxy:

Basecoat is down:

Waited 24 hours for drying then applied the clear coat:

After 4 days of drying I moved the Chevelle back in:

Time to paint the 2 car floor:

Organized the right side with a Rubbermaid Fast Track system:

Front of 2 car. Next I will be getting one more Craftsman wall cabinet. The white shoe rack will be trashed. And I need to find something different to do with the black shelf in the corner. I'm a little obsessive over organization and hiding as many things as possible from view.

And this is my favorite picture of the project. It's amazing how glossy the floor is:

Next I plan to run a hard air line to the ceiling on each side with a retractable hose reel for each. I also need to build a rack to store my coolers. Haven't figured out what I'm going to do there yet. I like to hide as much as possible from view for a more clean look. Any creative ideas for cooler storage?

Great work! So is the double garage not connected to the single on the right?

And i love that model of Impala. Post up a better pic :)

dubber,
When the home was built it only had the 2 car garage. the 3rd car was added on and there is a wall in between. I like it that way. It keeps kids (and mindless adults) away from my Chevelle.

More Impala:

It's the Rust Oleum kit from Home Depot. I had the same kit at my old house and it held up great for 2 years. It still looked like new when I moved out.
