Garage question (HELP)

If you have a double carport between the house and garage ,and the garage is attached to the carport, and the carport is attached to the house, do you need sheetrock wall between garage and carport for fire safety?

Going to depend on the inspector and the construction of the carport. If it is all metal, likely not. Stick built likely so.

Since your location is not shown, answers can't be specific. But usually when a garage is attached to a living structure, it will need some sort of one hour firewall, and any door between them both needs to be self closing. If in doubt, check the local codes if you are unsure.

I notice your question is specifically about the garage wall (not the house). Unless there is some weird local code, I don't think it needs to be fire-rated.

Well I know they want sheetrock between garage and house but if there is a 22 foot wide carport between the garage and house do you still need it

All you need to do is call the building department. I live in a fairly strict area and the way it is done here is 5/8" sheet rock (or equivalent) between the garage and any "living space". So if the area next to the garage is an open air car port then it would not be defined as a living space. If you were to close it in for some reason and make a man cave or family room out of it or something then it would be.
