Garage ramp advice needed

I met a guy today that had an interesting garage ramp for sale...
Its used, but in good shape, and a manual ramp.
Looks to be about 16' long, but he says it can be adjusted for length and the wheel ramps are maybe 10" wide and are adjustable width. The front is at a fixed height of maybe 20" and the rear drops down to load the vehicle, then is lifted level with a floor jackon a crossbar, and locked in place. It looks strongly made of folded steel.
I could not find anything like it in a search.
Anyone tell me what it is from my **** description and give me an idea of a fair price?

If it's a Kwiklift, I have one and its great. As a matter of fact, it is now in my neighbors garage with his '70 Mach-I on it while he rebuilds his car. Mine will handle everything I have from my FFR Roadster to my F-150 Supercrew.

Thanks so much....
What are they worth used, and are they any good?
I only have a 8' garage with a door that intrudes so I cant get a 2 or 4 post lift.

Thanks Ray, you posted while I was typing, sorry.
He wants 400, but thats a struggle for me right now, but if thats a steal I will need to find it... He pointed out tha he has an additional cross bar, and it was powdercoated before he installed it...
I was concerned that it would be a major prob for space in my 2 car garage, but looking at it folded flat, maybe its the best option.

I bought mine new, with the second bridge (cross bar) and I paid about $1400 for the lift and 2nd bridge. After I got it home and was using it, I ordered the dolly's which makes all the difference in the world in a small garage (also have a 2-car.) you can leave them flat and park on it, but it's just as easy of me to leave it down, (angled) and park on it that way.

If you'll send me an e-mail address, I can send you some photos.

These used to be real popular years ago for the homeshop garage but have not seen much of them lately. Is it because the price of a full size lift has come down closer to the new price of these?

If all goes to plan it will be in my garage today.

$400 for a kwiklift is a great deal. I've had one in my garage for about 5 years and I paid $1000 for it, previoulsy owned. I have my '84 capri rs sitting on it next to my 4 post lift. I considered selling the kwiklift right after I bought the 4 post lift but decided I'd better hold on to it.

Mmmmmm.
I am a Happy man!
Ok, so he wanted $400... I talked him down......
Its mine and in my Storage unit until I Epoxy the garage floor ... soon!

He says the HD 7000lb version, and has the Centerlift Bridge. The powdercoat is Satin Black and in pretty great shape.
My Truck Broke down on the way to get it, so I grabbed the old 1992 Buick Roadmaster Wagon that is a week or so away from going to the Junkyard cos I am tired of seeing it around... but it did the job!
I took pics just before I broke it down...
Here ya go!

You got a great deal there. You're going to love the Quiklift. I've had mine for a year now and it's proven to be one of the best things I've added to my shop. Mine cost me $600 used off of a Craigslist ad. When you find one of these used, you have to move on it quickly.....they don't seem to stay for sale for long.

Make yourself some approach ramps so you can park on it when it's folded down. Good luck with your new shop addition.

I dont have the height or the right garage door for a 2 or 4 post lift sadly, but this will work great!

Silly question for you ramp owners...
Anyone got the dollies?
How do you get the ramp on the dollies when the car is on it?

Does it only work as a ramp or does the rear of the ramp light up so the car is level?

Yes, it lifts up. The large bent tube rotates and allows you to use a floor jack to lift it level, and there are 2 legs that fold down and lock.

The way I understand it, you put a floorjack under the crossbrace and lift it there to level it out? Correct me, if I'm wrong!

Thanks Bender78!
I missed your other comment about approch ramps... I have a pair of those with it too! They are folded steel, so I assume they are from Kwicklift too.

Edit;
I saw this on the FAQ page...

7) HOW DOES THE LIFT TUBE ( THE PIPE ) WORK?

ANSWER: THE LIFT TUBE PIVOTS DOWN ( THE HUMP WILL BE LAYING DOWN ) AND OUT OF THE WAY ALLOWING VERY LOW CARS TO EASILY DRIVE ON AND OFF. WHEN YOU ARE READY TO JACK UP THE UNIT, PIVOT THE LIFT TUBE UP ( THE HUMP WILL BE UP ) AND POSITION THE JACK UNDER THE HUMP. (POSITION YOUR JACK SADDLE SO THAT 2 TEETH ARE IN FRONT OF THE TUBE, AND 2 TEETH ARE BEHIND THE TUBE, IN ORDER TO SAFELY HOLD THE TUBE.)

Looks a lot safer to me than that wooden thing, I saw on here last week.
Hell yes, but a well constructed wooden ramp is still better than working under a jack with no safety net! I saw one years ago made from old railway sleepers bolted together, and then one end cut at an angle. Very stong and safe, but "Lowtech" ... and hardly portable!

DJ, yes your correct. A floor jack lifts the pair of ramps at the same time.

To get the whole lift on the dollies, just use the floor jack to lift each corner and roll the dolly underneath. I use a 2x4 laid on the jack-pad to spread the load across the ramp. If you have the dollies from Kwiklift, you only need to raise the ramp a couple of inches.

I attached some photos of mine on page-1

Getting lots of use out of my Kwick lift!

I have limited space, and to line up the wheels of my "skinny" Alfa, I need to move the ramps closer together than the norm. The pic in the previous post tells the story. My Alfa is only just on the inside rail... and driving it on solo is nerve wracking. So I moved the ramps as close as I could, to make it centralised... this also minimises the footprint of the ramp.
Downside is I can't use the sliding centerlift bridge unless I reposition the ramps.

Those of you that have one, I have a couple of questions.

1/ Did any of you drill and bolt the bridge in one or multiple positions?
2/ Should I do that to "stabilize" the front of the ramp, and when I get some casters?
3/ What do you guys use to lift the vehicle on the ramp? I want a Bridge jack, but cant afford one right now.

Never saw this product before, and it looks like it'll cure a bunch of headaches, both for me and the wife that worries about the unsafe way I work under these vehicles. A couple questions, if you don't mind. Seems to me like the cross bar would allow the ramps to be set up at only one width. What would that width be, and could someone give me an accurate measurement of the height?

Thanks

Here is a link to the Kwiklift website:

Scroll to the bottom, click on the "FAQ" section, plenty of information.

Even tho I am very safety minded with my Jack stands, I live in Earthquake country, so the idea of being under a vehicile on stands freaked me out!
This is so much better!

The usable inner edge of the ramps with the Centerlift Bridge in is about 43"...
My Alfa is about the same to the inner edges of the tires.
I put it in and drilled a hole in the ramp surface to put a bolt thru yesterday.

This is what I want to have, but funds dont permit!

Same here...my Kwik-Lift has returned my investment many times over.

I've since acquired a larger garage, and am about to pull the trigger on a 4-post lift, but I will be keeping the Kwik-Lift.
