So the plan for a 24'x28' garage is the following:

1. Repair concrete block walls and drylock.
2. Clean and replace door gaskets and place green hinges on the two garage doors.
3. Primer all wood/drywall surfaces (trim and ceiling), leaving the concrete blocks all drylocked.
4. Granite Garage Floors will most likely be doing my flooring with a polyaspartic clear topcoat. Still have a bit of research to do here, but they seem to have quite a good reputation.
5. Tool benches (2) on one side and part racks down the 28' length on one side...the wife gets the other bay. Can't win them all.

That's about it. I need to get one workbench soon and want it on casters that won't damage the epoxy/apartic once it is down. Thoughts on what to buy/build? I'm thinking the wood bench from harbor freight to start, but need some good casters. Pics to follow later today for "before".

Build your own bench. Use the search function and see what others have done and posted. YouTube has videos also so you can get other ideas.

Of course to verify that you are working on your garage we need pictures. We can then offer ideas and help you spend more of your money .

While I have plenty of plans for nice and simple workbenches. This first bench I need to buy since I have no woodworking tools and need to get all my mechanics and home tools organized with a place to work. There is a decent bench from harbor freight that I was contemplating picking up and putting casters on, but we'll see.

Finally started to move forward with the off-garage man cave/spare room. Started tearing up the carpet and it looks like the concrete underneath has some sort of sealing paint on top. Put a pic in the photobucket.

Next up is to figure out if I can get away with just using hydraulic cement on these holes and then sanding smooth before a vinyl floor is installed. Not sure how level the floor is yet, but I figure I need to pic up a 3ft level or so next weekend. Thoughts?

Well, its been a while since I've posted here as we thought we were going to sell the house and move up to DC, but we've decided to stay and thus back to the garage work in prep for my car project. I've found most of the engine for the rebuild, so my tool selection will be changing.

Man cave conversion into a guest bedroom is completed by a contractor next week, so all I have left is the garage. If another little human comes along we may convert the garage into a den and another bedroom, which will be kind of a bummer, but maybe an excuse to build my dream garage at the end of the driveway behind the house. There is currently an unused cabin back there that I will have to tear down, but it is the perfect space for it.

Pictures of the converted man cave to follow.

New flooring in my old man cave which is now another guest room. Also a much busier work bench. Also some materials for a stair refinishing project I have planned for the end of the month. Not terrible high-dollar or exciting, but I'm learning a lot and have been pretty proud of the way it has turned out so far. Not sure what is next, but preparing for my car build has to start soon.
