Brass flakes and dry. This Enco saw just might have made it's last cut.

After some quick online research, I cleaned out the gearbox, propped the saw on an angle and filled it up with some gear oil.

I put the cover back on, set it back on the cart and tried to plug it in. I noticed the cord wasn't reaching the outlet. What I found was I set the saw back down on the cord.

You shouldn’t play with glitter around your machines.

Your price tag for steel is making me think more about the $200 3/8” steel table that’s 30”x48” on the market.

I showed the wife the picture of the gear box. I didn't want her to think they were shavings off a brass pole!!

Sometimes you can find a welding table for cheap. It's one of those things you have to keep looking for to find a great deal.

I want more than just a table, I want something I built for me and my use. I have a small folding welding table. It's great for little things but I wanted more.

I hear you about making it for your needs regarding the table. But I figured I would be money ahead just by having that big of a top for a future "table". I might hit the guy up because I know welding on my truck's tailgate is not ideal.

By all means, contact the guy. It won't cost you a dime, just a bit of time to talk or text him.

If it's all good, make the road trip to check it out and take a friend. That top alone will weigh about 155 lbs.

Mine is an Enco, who is no longer in business. A lot of people online say parts are interchangeable between these saws of various brands. A quick look last night for gears netted a possible almost $190 gear set.

That's close to what I paid for the saw. I'll run it till it's dead at that price.

I would be willing to bet that the bushings in the saw are a standard size that you could possibly source from McMaster Carr, just need to measure the OD and shaft size. Or maybe someone with a lathe could whip you out a couple?

We'll find out when it dies. I'm going to run it as is until then and see what happens.

The wife is in the loop. She thinks I should buy a new one. I said No.


If this unit dies, I I try to find something newer but used. It's one of the things that I keep an eye out for.

Here's another picture of how much it's leaking. You can see it puddling up.

I swapped out the blade I had on it for a coarser 14 tpi blade. It cut way faster than the other blade.

I did get the 4 legs cut and ground off the mill scale.

I did get on Grizzly's website and printed out a parts list. After looking for a few minutes, I found the seal, bearings and bushing to replace. Hopefully this will fix the leak.

However, it was a $34 order and $15 for shipping. A $50 order gets free shipping so I went back through the parts list to get the most out of my money. New belt, guide bearings and a few more things.

For flipping ease you might consider welding a piece of receiver tubing below your table. Then you can slide a trailer ball hitch in for something to pick it up with, and then later use it for sliding vises, bench grinders and other things that you might need while doing fab/welding work?

I was trying to swicth between the phone and shop computer but it was trying to do an update.


Starting to weld the legs to the frame. Once again, slow going. One side of the welded to the frame and the opposite side welded to the table top. The other edge where the leg meets the table will be the last weld.

Well I guess it's going to wait until Monday. I'm working a 48 and OE Meyer is closed Saturday. No bottle swap till Monday.


I suppose I could move the straight argon bottle if I wanted to. Hmmm, seeing how I already work Sunday, maybe I will just swap parts out on the bandsaw on Saturday.

A trip to OE Meyer netted currently in date, filled with a new valve, bottle of 75/25. I went ahead and upgraded to the larger 140cuft bottle over the smaller 80 I had before.

I had to pay a small up charge for the larger bottle but not the 75/25 argon and straight argon bottle are the same size.

First up, was to finish welding the legs.

Then some more planning on some feet to level the table or raise the casters off the floor.

Here's a shot of what I am working on. These will be welded to the lower leg cross members.

I'll have a few hours in the garage tomorrow before I go in and work an officer's spot of overtime tomorrow.
