Next up, move the 13" Cman drill press to the other side, out of the garage area. I will use the larger 20" Cman for all metal working.
KIMG3461.JPG

I should have replaced the cord when I did some restoration work on it. But I didn't, so now I will and going to add an angle plug. The plug will allow it to run closer to the wall.

But first, I was tired of the way the spindle handles were loose, they always have been.

On to the rewire....but I failed to realize how involved this was going to be....

The pulley cover needs to come off rear pulley was easy... Front, not so much.
KIMG3465.JPG

I remember having an issue where came off at one point....I spent an hour looking for the manual and tossed some old manuals and catalogs away.. found the manual.... nothing about the pulley. I couldn't remember if it was left hand threads or not... So I spent another hour looking through this thread, and threads I started over the years...till I found it ..****.... I used blue Loctite on the nut....KIMG3466.JPG

I finally stacked two hammers and gave it about 6 blows to break the Loctite...it came part way off, then the little torch to apply some heat... finally it came off. Then I broke out the puller and dicked around another 19 minutes getting the pulley off.KIMG3467.JPG

First I've heard of an angle plug. Nice solution. I like the clamp trick on the puller. That's a new one on me, too. Your shops are looking good. Nice to have task specific drill presses. Keeps oil and swarf off your wood projects, and sawdust mixing with oil on your metal projects. :coffee:

I had a smaller Skil benchtop drill press and sold it last year on FBMP. Once I bought the 20" Cman, I figured I could get rid of it.... now I have the mill, I figured I could dedicate the 13" Cman to woodworking.

We're in a holding pattern right now to finish up the table saw. Working on the cord from motor to power switch box.

I need a couple of flag spade connectors... local "supposedly" has them in stock. I don't put much faith in that store. Not sure how I feel about buying the ones I did from The Jungle.....KIMG3476.JPG

But on the bright side, the wife brought me out a little snack for the time being.

A little like Christmas today....the big purchase not shown.

Brushes and gloves.
40 & 50% off sale KIMG3481.JPG

Icon dead blow hammers, 30% off and a few small items.

KIMG3480.JPG
Flag spade connectors with some SS hardware added to get delivery this morning.

KIMG3482.JPG

Picked this organizer up last night...after ordering the flag connectors, red/yellow coming later this week, I'm going to do a little re-organizing.

Not shown was a tote full of electrical pieces and parts. I've started to gather stuff for a future build at my parents place. I took advantage of the 15% bag sale at Menards.

Wife bought me a Square D QO box for Christmas, with the exception of another 50A breaker, I should have that area mostly covered. Plus . . . #4 grd wire and clamps, 28 outlets and 10 switches, outlet and switch plate covers.

LOL, I had the bag full, level across the top ...my plan was to spend $300 out the door. . . Real close at $290.

I did grab the wrong receptacles for the welder...oh well...easy to return and grab the right ones.

Ok I saw this and had to chuckle when I saw it. I flipped the pencil box over and saw these DARE stickers...

KIMG3491.JPG

I realized how old this box is but don't know which daughter it belonged to. They graduated highschool in '08 & '10.

The youngest daughter has the oldest granddaughter and she had her DARE graduation last year or year before... Since the wife is the Admin Assistant to the Sheriff, she goes with him to help the DARE Officer when they do the county DARE graduation at the fairgrounds.

I think I will ask the granddaughter if she wants it for her drawing stuff since it was her Mom's or Aunt Ashley's.

So I started moving the chemical cabinet in the addition this past week...as typical ..... One thing leads to the another around here.

Cabinet removed from corner...KIMG3494.JPG

I had to previously move the cabinet up to clear the 56" box... So now is the time to fill some holes and get a fresh coat of paint to cover it up .

Knowing where the cabinet is up going presents another problem, which you may recall...KIMG3493.JPG

The side which I merely covered up with a piece of duct metal... which now needs replaced.

So I spent the next afternoon, trying to find a piece...found, cut, primed and painted.

Then it was a 48 for work.... today is Sunday...gotta go eat lunch with parents and probably go watch grandson play basketball all afternoon and finally... maybe some time in the garage to decompress before back to work tomorrow.

Sometimes people wonder why it takes me so long to get stuff done... Well, because me or my **** comes last....

I ad the side panel riveted on the other day. It was done before the timeline on Thursday.. I didn't get a picture of it though. Today I did get a picture.

KIMG3512.JPG

The only garage work was a short bit this evening. That included hanging the cabinet up.

KIMG3513.JPG

I did keep it about 4" above the top arm on the metal rack. Once all mounted on the wall, I put all the chemicals back in and called it an evening.

KIMG3514.JPG
One day in the future, the metal rack will have all it's arms mounted. However, that day will be in a new shop hopefully. I will be able to dedicate a wall space to u rack.

Got the day off today..... single digit temps, negative wind chill and the power is out. . . As well as the Internet.

Honda 3K keeping heat and well pump running in the house.

It's powering a light and blower on the wood burner.

KIMG3519.JPG

Living in a cell dead zone, I have 2 bars at best with 4G and it's taken 6-7 minutes to make this post with the pictures...not to mention charging my phone off a DeWalt 20V battery.

If we had better Internet service, I could power up a TV and cast something to it

Pros and cons to living away from the city.

We went through this awhile back, but luckily it wasn’t freezing. Because of that experience I upgraded from one generator to two since I take care of the in law’s place too.
We've never been out of power this long before.... even during winter. If I was honest, I bet in the almost 26 years living here and working at the FD, the station generator has run more for power outages.

I'm pretty sure that the Internet is down due to the power outage. Apparently, AEP had more than a simple wire or pole down. Using my connections ( where wife and I work), our outage is a transmission issue and was worse than originally thought....it included some burnt wiring. Where ? I would guess a sub-station locally.
