I have been lurking for a while and have decided to move forward with yet another garage remodel. As you can see by the pictures, I have completed some work in the past. I have remodeled the garage several times since we built the house nearly 10 years ago. The revisions are listed below.

The garage originally only had sheetrock on the exterior wall of the house and ceiling only.

Revision 1-

I finished the drywall on the left side of the garage and hung slat board on the right side with shelving. The floor was finished in black and grey VCT in a checker board pattern. This revision was the best looking and I wish that I was able to locate the pictures.

Revision 2-

After starting a job as a Project Manager for a large construction firm I decided to make an office to work in while at home. I divided the garage in half and built a partition allowing for an office in the back and storage in the front. The revision ended up looking ok. I was able to get the office nearly finished until the flood.

Revision 3-

This revision was necessary due to a leaking roof that caused water damage to the front right side of the garage:(. This was disheartening due to the fact that I managed rebuild projects for home owners that experienced water and fire damage themselves. Now I had to do mine. It ended up being ok though, I have since left the disaster restoration business for a job working with cars again. The job change has steered me towards giving the office ¼ of the garage and the other ¾ for fun stuff.

I have placed some $ aside for yet another rebuild. I am going to chronicle my rebuild with you guys hoping for some ideas and pointers along the way. I have a budget of $2000 for the garage remodel this time around.

My background in construction is going to help with minimizing labor costs and some material cost. I am planning to go as “Green” as possible. I will try to reuse as much as I can.

Plan so far

-Finish all drywall
-Porcelain tile on the floor
-Bi-fold doors to cover the water heater and to provide storage
-I am not sure of the color scheme yet
-Move and update lighting

HERE WE GO!!!!!!

Sounds like you've thought it out well.

But you don't need no bi-fold doors for the water heater. Just paint a big ol Rat Fink on it and everyone will want to look at it.

And welcome aboard. Where ya from?

That's a friggin' GREAT idea JC23!!!...I like that rat fink idea.......OR maybe I could paint a wall on it and no one would see it.

Thanks for the welcome....I'm in Fuquay-Varina, NC....no need to try to pronounce it.

That looks like a nice project! That electrical panel looks to be in a rather odd place. I assume that is for the entire house? If its a sub panel, you've got a lot of power in that garage.

It is the panel for the entire house (only 1200sf). Super easy to run electrical.

Run across a picture of what the garage looked like in a former life.
