Quick story:
We purchased our first home March this year from a family freind, a 72yo widow. Now all the important things are done in the house. I started on my garage/little pole barn. It's 26'wide x48'long x8'10"ceiling the peak is vented, there is no soffet and a steel roof. The whole barn had a layer of 3/4" foil faced foam board R-3??....and an unreal amount of animal feces. Built in the 70s, it was used to work on tractors, until the untimely death of her husband in 93'. So we have been gutting it, rewiring everything up to code and insulating with R-13 over the foam board on the walls. The ceiling had 2x4's laid flat at 24 on center, with the foam board nailed (falling off) to it. So now I have been studding it out 16"oc, R-13, 1/2" osb.
So now my question. In central michigan, temp range from 0 in the winter to 100 in the summer. Is R-13 going to be enough to at least make it comfortable? Im content working in 40-50 degree temps with a hoodie. But I can't handle heat at all
I would really appreciate some insight on this. I'm doing everything on a shoestring budget. We have our third child on the way, so mama put the squeeze on the pocket book for a nursery. Thanks for your time. Have a great day!
