Hello all. New here, and thought what better place to come for adivce/direction.

Have been wanting to have a garage as an extension of my home for years!! Finally got the bug up my A$$ enough to have actually started taking down a bunch of wooden shelves with those crappy metal brackets (existing from previous homeowner).
I want to make it very clean and simple. Will be putting color on walls, garage type cabinetry, flooring, and some other odds and ends.

So here's where I need some help/advise.

~I want to do a "Race Deck" type flooring. Might even use that product. Anyone recommend it, or any competitor of theirs? And where can I find the best possible pricing?

~Most importantly is the "garage style" cabinetry. I really want to be able to put all my sh!t inside of these to keep that clean uncluttered look. Just looked at the Moduline cabinets, and can't believe how much $$$$ that sh!t is!! Needless to say, I am on a budget. Can anyone steer me in the right direction for some good quality, fair priced cabinet systems? I prefer more of a floor based system on wheels, or stands....due to the fact that I just feel like actually mounting any upper cabinets, unless absolutely necessary.

Feel free to share pics of your own if you think it may be of interest to me.

I want to act fast while I'm on the hunt. If I don't keep going with this in stride, I might just put it to the wayside.

**Note: I am not against purchasing anything used or second hand if you know of anything.

Thanks in advance for any input!

Honestly do what most of us do. Just lurk and learn. ;)

Heres a thread to get you started.

Heck I originally designed the layout of my garage using two tools. Keep in mind I have the expensive AutoCad programs at work, but I wanted to tinker with things that are free and easy to use.

I used this site to create above image. http://www.cbstructuresinc.com/layout-planner/

Playing around with Google Sketchup I think this is how I want to build some boxes over my wood working bench.

I think you're in the wrong part of the forum...you need to spend an afternoon, or two, perusing the "Gallery" section of this great place.

You'll get all your questions answered, several times over....

Oh, and test out the search function above....you'll get lots of hits on terms such as "Race Deck", including the one at the bottom of my posts.....

I wish I could use sketchup like that. I have tried it and the learning curve seemed pretty steep. I used to do drafting with a pencil and drafting table which I mastered really well but the cad programs have me stumped.

Your original post makes it sound like you are decorating your garage. Many people here use garages as work places, not a place to "decorate". There is a reason you aren't getting a lot of suggestions. How could we know how you like your decorating?

For the flooring , check out the flooring section.

Do a search for some cabinets and you'll find quite a selection.

Like said above check out the gallery section, spend a few days there.

As you have already found out, garage cabinets are not low cost. You have no location in your profile, so nobody will be able to offer regional or city-specific garage cabinet makers for you to check out.
As others have pointed out, there are some good threads on garage cabinets here, just search for them, and then take the time to read through them.
LOTs of good ideas, great installations and stuff to make you say "WTF"?
