Yea you got it. You can see some of my Kreg clamps in the picture with the sink and Makita saw.

Those corner clamps are a life saver by the way. Both my compressors are on a job, so I can't even tack the plywood together with a nail gun. What a pain in the *** without one. Those clamps help a lot. Best gift set I ever got.

Wow! What a great transformation. On top of that, we are due with our first any day now (official due date was yesterday), so seeing you being able to still even enter your garage gives me some hope!!!

Thank you. Yea it is much tougher now with the baby. She is now 3 months and it is getting slightly easier. I am able to get into the garage about an hour to an hour and a half every other night. I try to get in there on a Sat or Sun for a day to really move things along, but that is a hit or miss.

I have a few more progress pics, I'll post them up today.

Another damn tire has been found. I don't know why I have it. But it looks decent. Anyone want it?

So I organized my fridge in the space next to the garage.

Last weekend I finished my cabinets.

Started installing them last friday

Installed, and cleaned up a bit.

I still have a long way to go before I can order wood for my doors and finish trim, but I don't feel like this is a never finishing project anymore.

I was going to read all the pages before posting but i had to comment after seeing this one lol....it looks like the ******* bat cave secret entrance! ITHINK it looks cool even if it is under the house.

Now onto the work you've done, while i dont understand ALL of the posts as far as what you've done completely (mainly the SS things you said you did as trim with the tile..sorry im unfamiliar) i can say the garage looks great. Really has me considering having tile when i finally get my own garage (ONE DAY!)

Quick unrelated question...ive seen ramps like in these photos before, but last time i saw someone try to drive up on a set (they were metal type and a little higher) the ramps shot across the garage like a bullet lol...so ive wondered after that how exactly do you get up on them with out them slipping out from under the tires?

OK now that ive read through the whole thread, im glad i did...this Kreg set up looks awesome. If my *** ever gets enough money to get a house that i can fix up this looks like something i'll be investing in when i start learning hwo to make cabinets (cause i know NOTHING about it other than how to replace the handles!)

You put it on the floor, into thinset, and then you put the tile into it, also on thinset. This makes a finished edge, without going through the trouble of getting edge tiles. Plus this is much better and stronger to protect the edge from car, jack and other hard wheels.

The tire thing is real. I really need to get rid of it. It is in really good shape, so I feel bad about throwing it out. lol.

Thank you for the link. No I did not find the light for that yet. I just finished wiring (um, connecting all the outlets and switches). So no new pics yet, unless you guys want to see the outlets with the trims on them.

So right now, I am able to connect all my electrical stuff, in their proper places and clean up. I had extension chords all over the place before. Once that is done, I am going to buy more plywood and work on the one remaining wall, tables, and then doors.

I will snap some update pics today. I actually just realized I did a bunch of things people might find interesting.

What a before-and-after difference! Amazing job! Your dedication has definitely paid off. Do you have a "before" pic form this angle? It would be nice to see those two pics together.

1. What size is the grout gap?
2. What colour grout did you use?
3. What did you do at the the door entrance threshold?
4. Would you do anything different in respect of the floor?

1. The gap is 1/8".
2. I used epoxy Mocha color. It is dark, and I've already had oil sitting on it for a while. Machine oil as a matter of fact. Cleaned up with a dirty rag no problem.
3. I put in a rubber threashold under the door a while back. My floor outside used to be pretty level, so a heavy rain managed to get water inside the garage. My tile comes up to the threshold, and I finished the tile edge with a Stainless Steel edge guard. I have posted links to it above. You can buy it at any big box stores, but around here all of them were aluminium. I found a high end tile store in the city that carried it in SS.
4. No way. Floor has been great. Before I decided to do tile, I explored a lot of options. A lot. Then jack put me onto tile. After researching tile specifically, there was no way any other flooring system was going to cut it. My friends seem to be visiting me more often now that they can wrench on their cars in a nice spot. Heaviest car that has been on the tile, on a jack, is a 1995 S500. No protection under the jack, or jack stands. Epic strength.

All in all, it was worth it. Which is sort of funny, because the floor is now absolutely perfect (pitch corrected as well) and cost a ton less than most other options out there. I get the wow expression from every person that passes by when I am there. It puts a smile on my face every time I notice this. Some people actually blurt out, "Holy ****, WOW, Look at that, now that's a garage". I love it.

I love the tile and the fact that you have a downward ramp into the garage. I could be wrong but it seems like you may have some privacy even with the garage door open.

Thank you. Yes I do get some privacy, especially when I put my X5 in the driveway.

Only problem I have found with reno-ing the garage like this, is random people falling in front of my house, or walking into stuff. Always makes me laugh.

It is a rare sight in our Area. Lots of people have garages, but not many can put a car in there. Let alone all the **** around it.

I am working in there, see a guy walking right into a parking meter while looking into the garage the whole time. Some beer came out of my nose that time.

Great job with the tile slick. I followed this thread from your reply to my problem of no drain. There were some other ideas as well. I am not ready to tackle this project yet, but when I do, the tile will be at the top of the condsideration list. Anyone who can make their garage look like that and then stock the fridge with Black and Tan and Lager has got to know what he is doing. I live 5 miles from the Yuengling brewery and have quite a few friends who work there. I am pretty good friends with the oldest daughter also. She is married to one of my friends. They are real nice people. I am not sure you see any of the Coors or Busch family around town, or buying milk in the supermarket with the rest of us ham and eggers. Enjoy the beer and thanks for the idea. I may PM you with more detailed questions, probably in the spring when I start.

My project was extreme because of the mud job. Regular tile, is much much much easier.

Damn good job man!! Everything you touched came out great. Congrats on the baby too. It def changes your life, but always for the better. I could have THE WORST day at work, but when I come home and my two small boys yell "daddy" and "da-da" and run to me, everything else just doesn't matter. I forget about work the second I walk through the door at home! Seems you have the same thing going on and thats def cool. I will be honest, when I first saw porcelain tile going down, I was nervous. I was nervous putting it down in our kitchen thinking the boys will drop a Tonka truck on it and break it...you damn near put a real trucks weight (S500, haha) on it in a GARAGE! Proved all my thoughts wrong! Well, man you are close to "done" and you are already enjoying it. Continue to do-so and take care!

PS, I might have to stop by and grab some Yuengling once in a while. I am from MA, but presently live in DE. My family up there LOVES the stuff, but sometimes I forget it. Funny thing is, I always seem to remember in NY.

Renovation is something that cannot be done quickly. It needs planning and time. Improving a garage in the home is another undertaking that will enhance not only the look of your abode but will contribute to the safety of your vehicle as well. Renovate your garage to suit your needs.

Yea sort of stopped doing any major work updates to the garage. Second baby on the way in the next month or so. So its been nuts all around. I still have huge plans to finish it. Which I will do as the kids get bigger.

Thank you. Yup baby number 2 is now 7 months old. Still not much progress other that a few light fixtures and that cell phone enabled garage closer. I figure another half year before i resume working on my own stuff, and not purely for clients.

Great work! I really like the tile. My son is almost two and he loves going into the garage. I just have to keep him under close supervision!! the other day he was trying to climb on the snowblower.

Soon i will build some cabinets. Just got a kreg jig!! any tips on keeping the stock even when screwing to make a wide panel ?

A pin nailer, finish nailer, whatever they call it. I have a super expensive one, and not impressive at that, so I don't even want to recommend it. I used to have a bostitch finish nailer, and that was the sauce. I thought I bought a win replacement, and it was a fail. Still kicking myself on that one. And they don't make that model anymore. I never had an issue with that one.

I am going to give this little sucker a shot soon.

So you basically tack the panels together, and then go to town.

I also don't have the full Kreg kit, just the drill guide, single hole and a few corner clamps. Look up the Kreg corner clamps, I think this will help you too. Get a pair, one is almost useless for big tack ups. They are like big vise-grips with corner boxes, and they have an access hole to set your screw through.

Hahaha, it gets slightly easier after 6 months. I put in another light fixture last month. Too bad the switch is busted so i have to replace that. I'm always working on there, just not on it.

Wow! That is a Slick garage transformation if I ever saw one. I must admit. When I saw the first picks, I thought, "Oh no; that looks rough." Now, I'm wondering whether tiles might be the way to go in my garage.

Hahaha thanks. I too was glad I had a garage finally. It's no small feat in NYC, so I was proud of that. But I quickly realized that it was no way for me to be comfortable in it. The mold smell, constant wet floor, extreme dust, cracked up, and dark. Dark and moldy were the biggest problems that started all this.

Yea i suggest every one take a look at tiles for their garage floors. How many threads does one see of failing tile floors? And zero maintenance is also a huge plus.
