I have a garage near my house. We store our vehicle and the kid's bicycle inside the garage. My husband used to keep the plumbing equipment in it. We bought a dinette from a dining room furniture store in Kitchener. We kept the old dining table in it. I thought of donating them to a natural habitat restore. Next month, we are going to Florida. Before we leave we have to fix the problems in our garage. The garage door doesn't have safety locks. Also, the roofs are torn and damaged. Is the roof structurally damaged, or just shingles needing replacement? A roofing company should be able to re-roof, I would talk to friends and work colleagues and find out who has done theirs, and provided good work at a reasonable price. If some of the roof sheathing needs replacing, make sure the roofer understands this when they quote.

My large roll up door has no key, or even a handle on the outside, but the door was manufactured to allow it to be secured with a padlock on the inside.

Yes you should be able to place a padlock on the door track to prevent the door roller from passing the padlock.
