I'm new here, been a lurker for a little while. I noticed the lack of normal garages so I decided to throw our work in progress up. We're still taking down the popcorn finish but we're moving along nicely. My friends and I have been working on my garage on and off for the last two weeks or so. We had some hurricane damage from last season and lost some of the ceiling.

A neighbor of mine is moving and gave me some workbenches. My friend and I decided to build two more for some more surface area. We got the insturction online and made them our own. We patched the ceiling with some fresh drywall and began removing the popcorn finish.

I'm planning on a dark grey or black ceiling with a matching border that goes around the garage about a six inches in height. I'm going to re-paint the walls white again and put a stain on the floor possibly matching the ceiling.. thoughts?

A dark grey or black floor (to match the ceiling) would look great, but it'd be horrible to keep clean. Every step you take or car you pull in would leave dirt behind...

The darker colors will also absorb light as opposed to throwing it back out to the work are where you can use it.

Welcome to the forum. The are plenty of "normal" garage here on GJ. So don't feel like the red headed step child. There is a prodigeous amount of info here available to all garages.

Floorplans

Well here is a scale floor plan of how everything will turn out. Today we got down most of the popcorn. Tomorrow I will finish the ceiling, clean, and powerspray the floor and concrete walls. If we're feeling froggy we may try to paint something since everything will be out of the garage.

I have a few issues I need to work out:

A.) Floor surface
B.) Lighting layout
C.) Paint Colors

I'm thinking of a lite grey with a blue hint on the walls with almost a white ceiling and a concrete stain that matches the driveway..? i dunno :eyecrazy:

finished

My cars in the garage.. so it's done. But I'm still missing some major elements in there.. Here are a few pics of what we've done so far.

Long story short I'm missing the cabinets on the back wall between the water heater and door. There's not really much on the wall and I need to get more picture frames.. There's some painting I need to do.. and the table at the garage door to the right is being trashed.. missing my tool cabinet, plus the 8.8 rear on the jack stands needs to find its way into my car. The last two pictures show the old lighting VS the new lighting. My friends father came by and installed two 8ft t10 fixtures, hardwired the back light, put the compressor on it's own circuit, and added outlets all over.

thanks all my friends who helped!

ps - Jeff that's the new door leaning up on the right

long story short everything turned out great, we've detailed many a car in there and overall I really love my garage. the lights are amazing and the door was installed! next upgrade is a 2008 C6 corvette!
