Bought this beauty at a garage sale for..... 15 bucks!

It was a tad rusty, had all sorts of dried gunk inside and was in dire need of a cleaning. I cleaned her up, regreased everything and now she's a sweet unit. It'll be a workhorse and I'm not too concerned about what it looks like, just as long as it works!

There's a chunk busted off below the stationary jaw, probably from hammering on it.

Looks rough. Are these Wiltons really worth going after in that one in that kind of shape is a score?

Dude, it's a bench vise.:wtf: Not much to go wrong. Some rust is nothing. Now if it was cracked or welded that would be a different story.

Yes its rough, but the only serious damage is that small bit off the jaw. For $15 he stole it. I'd bet he could flip it on Eprey for 10X with ease.

OK, I'm not ignorant as the the value of old, fine tools. I myself have an Athol 624½, Columbian 504½ and a Wilton Shop King. I also have a Chicom rotating combo pipe and square vise. The Athol has a repair, the Columbian has been cleaned and serviced but not detailed, and the Wilton is restored. I've got a couple of smaller old Craftsman vices as well in original nice condition. So don't go jerk on me.

I just wonder about a vise that has saw marks and hammer marks to the extent that the anvil pad is destroyed. You can have it. Even at 15 bucks. I'll wait for something decent but I won't pay an outrages sum for any vice.

As the man said, "Dude, it's a bench vise."

Exactly. I don't get a ***** over a bullet.
