The wall no noted one would be nice if you could double the shelves and use the cardboard parts boxes for small stuff.

For bigger stuff you cold always mount the double sided one next to the wall

Given the same choice, I went with the single deep
My shelves are only 12 inches wide so I had a lot of verticals
They are plenty strong.

Those look like libary surplus
Mine were from a drug store
They are what is used in a grocery store

Books and canned are not light

They're library shelves, 9" deep. I bought them with the intention of selling my whole lot to a wholesaler. He's (yeah, just 1 "he") not offering enough to make it worth my labor. If there was enough interest in these as storage I'd sell them as storage to individuals, but there's not much interest there either. Just seeing what GJ thinks. They're up on ebay if you're willing to look. Hard to ship, though...

After spending years in the library in college... I would never put them near me now. ha ha

My kids today would say "what's a library?"

Two different purposes really so hard to vote.

Also what you do in a shop can be 100+ different things.
Mechanic shop I doubt would want them ever too small, takes up too much room
Shop that is making 3d printed items for customers might like to store parts on.
Might make a good will call shelves for company selling small items.

I have old Costco racks going into my shop.

Honestly I would use it in my Office in my home over the shop. wall mounted to display some cool stuff.

Scored a lot ( truckload for $100 ) years back. Put them free-standing in two friends’ buildings and now might in mine. Store boxes and canisters of bolts and hardware ( = weight, but still less than the previous books ). Mine are much older, olive green, square nuts, x-brace rods with turnbuckles for each assembly.
Drugstore shelving is also available because they like to remodel drug stores and throw out the old ( but appears fine ) shelving.
