Lets see them. Pencil sharpeners located in your shop or garage. Boston KS. I have had this one since 1978, bought at flea market.

Works great for regular pencils, which I prefer for finish/trim/etc. work versus a standard carpenters pencil.

Chucks up into a drill.

I bought the pack from Lowes.

I was pissed of by the poor quality of those suction bottom sharpeners. I had to go to teacher supply store to find a REAL pencil sharpener. And they didn't even keep them in stock I was going to have to order one.

In the end, I found one at an antique store! I paid $10 for an older one and I couldn't be happier! Now I got one just like the OP. My quest was complete.

The one in Dad's garage is like the first one in the OP. It worked well but we'd always knock the shavings holder off the wall when we walked by. Guess it was not really in a good spot.

I can't use those kind anymore so I keep mechanical pencils all over the place. Sure I do have to deal with broken lead sticks here and there but the pencils are cheap enough I just buy a new pack for the eraser and lead refills.

Just what I needed. I was just telling my friend how sick and tired I am of sharpening the pencils with the knife. I usually keep it behind the ear, and when it falls to the floor, the tip is gone. I don't like mechanical ones. Seems like they always gave me issues that I just don't want to bother with.

+1 Only mechanical clickers for me on the precise measurements. I like my pencil lead perpetually sharp!

Occasionally I'll whip out a Sharpie depending on the type of material being marked on.

I use a .50 cent carpenter's pencil sharpener for my carpenter's pencils and mechanical pencils for anything else. I quit using pencil sharpeners years ago...LOL!

I have one like the OP, without the cover. It wasn't on it when I bought the garage and I have it mounted above the garbage can.

The sharpener is in a drawer somewhere - have one like the OP. I use mechanical pencils for woodwork and sharpen my flat carpenters pencils with a utility knife.
But now I'm thinking I need to dig it out...

I've got flat carpenter's pencils in the shop for most of my stuff, and use a Sharpie for marking metal projects.

But there are times when I use a regular old pencil, and that's when I'm drawing up some blueprints or diagrams to fab something.

I'd almost get one of those old-school pencil sharpeners just for the smile it would bring me the three times a year I'd use it! Not to mention the smile it'd bring my friends when they see it. Facing the wall, cranking the handle... That'd bring back some memories!

Funny how when I was in elementary school, we all had the mechanical pencil sharpeners and wanted to use the electric ones, and now I've got an electric pencil sharpener and want the mechanical one!

If you are looking for a decent electric pencil sharpener, the old Panasonic Auto Stop is IDEAL. THEE perfect sharpening angle. Stopped exactly when the pencil was sharp. Reliable. (NOT pretty, though). Best electric pencil sharpener I've ever seen.

Mine is like the OP's. It came with my house (the previous owner left it in the pantry, but I moved it to the garage). As soon as I saw the one ishiboo posted I told my wife I needed one! (and I'll get one for my buddy so his girlfriend can just shake her head. We always exchange goofy Christmas presents.)

I can't remember how many years ago I bought this one, but I am sure it was used then, because I probably got it at a garage sale.
I have been moving it from house to house for 25 years now.
It has one more move in its future, to my new shop!

i broke mine the other day when the drill fell off my bench, i was pissed to say the least. i swear the only reason i owned it was to show my friends and say "look at my manly pencil sharpener":bounce:

Doxhog, nice set you got going there. I like the Apaco on the left.

Steevo, sweet Ranger. Again I like that body style.

But I would really like this Raymond Loewy but they are going for >$100K...ouch!

I didn't want to post a pic of my bench grinder. I did have a vacuum mount sharpener at one time. Somebody must have wanted it. :(

My fleet; not shown is the one that was on the wall until I redid the garage, it is MIA in the clutter.

This one came with the place I just moved in to. Still haven't tried it but judging by some of the craftsmanship Ive been finding, it probably wasn't used much.

I have one like the op that I got for free (a shop was being torn down and I asked the owner if there were any goodies left -he had a sale going on at his new shop next door). I found it mounted to a 1x4 and didn't have any tools to remove it, so I also got the broken piece of 1x4--(that sharpener was coming home with me!!).
Haven't even used it--I'm using mechanical pencils.

Unfortunately, I remember when I got mine. I was furlowed for a short while and bought mine with a portion of the one and only unemployment check I ever got in my live so i would have a perminent reminder of the event.
