Well I got the Foundation in, I have water and Conduit for 100 AMp elec service run from house underground to Shop along with Domestic Water pipes, Radiant Heat is in 4 200 FT Loops. Shop will be 28 X 28 with 10 Ft ceilings on the first floor and 8 ft ceilings on the second floor. Back of shop is about 4 Foot under ground with sides sloping down to 2 Foot toward the front.

All of the lumber except for the trusses and the PT that was put down as the sill plate came from my buddies saw mill, some of the lumber was even came from my land that I logged.

Some pic's show snow fence $200.00 worth to try and keep chickens out so there not eatting seed and some show where I had to dump all the dirt that came out, I used it to raise a spot in the back where I plan to put a pole barn.

Very nice! Great looking craftsmanship. Kind of looks like a pumpkin.

Thanks, The Project started in late September it has been a side project otherwise it would have been done a while ago I am not a carpenter by trade either. I have had some great guys helping also. I'll post more pic's soon working on the railing for the stairs now. It's the little details that make a building some times and there are a lot here but they are hard to show in the pics.

Looks like the garage will serve you well into the future. Like the fact you used some of the trees off your land too. The JD looks like it might be a 3320 or maybe a little larger? Always good to have a tractor to use.

Looking forward to seeing more of the progress of this project. BTW, setting looks really nice.

Ody.

For now I have my road race car in there and some of my other toys, Then I'll leave the other half for working on stuff. Upstairs is going to be a hang out/lounge. I would have liked to have gone bigger but For it to fit where I wanted it to this was about as big as I could go, Other wise I would have had to move the horse fence or moved my driveway.

The inside Is going to be OSB for now on the walls and ceilings over the insulation, I plan on doing some type of wood upstairs maybe in rough cut of some sort of a finshed Pine. I may not get to that part in till the fall, I have some other projects that I want to get to, I plan to put up another barn prob a pole barn this summer if not next summer.

And here are some Pic's of the dog's Bogdan M

I love that you used lumber from your land. Not many people can say that! I also like the single walk in door you made.

The Female is a retired show dog, she has many ribbons and awards to her name, she is getting up there in age and I have slimmed her down a bit so it would be easier on her bones even though she has all of her health clearance including Hips/Elbows, She was a very muscular large boned dog in her day. She was a the very limit for size for a Female dog in her class.

My Male is a pup in those pic's he still is a touch smaller then my female but with in standard for a Male.

They both have lot's of training and for the most part are very well behaved dogs.

The wood door, That is going up top in the front, it is going to be a three piece door, the bottom have will be one and the top will be two parts that open up opposite ways, I did this because I want to be able to leave the top part open in the summer and have the bottom closed so it is safer. The door is not finished yet, when it is I'll post more pic's.

Seriously dig your spread there, great barn... and coop!
I'm planning on making a replica of my barn as a chicken coop.
Did you build your coop off a set of plans or just wing it?

The coop was drawn on a napkin, as a thought in my head and then I ordered a bunch of lumber and wood from my buddies mill and started screwing and nailing. Thanks for the kind words, I am trying this place was a wreck before I got it, it has come a very long way and I have more plans.

Very nice build...spectacular scenery!
If I was to do mine again I would go with the concrete stem walls like you did....

I'd love to see it as I'm building a 28 X 28 but unfortunately your pictures don't show anymore. You're out of bandwidth on Photobucket.

Awesome build! the more and more garages I see in this style, the more I want to build it. Such curbe appeal, tons of useful space, and it fits in well with the surrounding style in New England.

Thank you, I plan to finish the upstairs off, My Buddy who owns the Saw mill where I got all of my wood from, Makes finished Tongue and Groove and other types of wood for finishing, or I may go rough for the cabin feel.

I used SER into the House and URD from Shop to a J Box under porch where it meets the SER. I Have a 100 Amp service, all of the circuits are 20 Amp except for the 220 for the Welders and Compressor. I'll Take a Pic of inside the box next time I open it, It came out real nice.

DOwnstairs I have 2 dual 4 Ft lights above the Bench on there own switch, I then have 8, 8 Ft quad Lights spaced evenly though out the shop downstairs, I have them on 4 switches so there are two per switch and I have them in squares so I can light up certain areas. This shop lights up very well. Upstairs I have two lights in the storage areas, 1 in the hallway and I also have three ceiling fans with lights down the center.
Outside I have a motion flood light and two Barn style lights above garage door and one above main door.

I would like to see a picture of this detail from inside.

Specifically how do the roof rafters transfer the load down to the side walls ?
