I'm in the process of removing drywall in my garage for a side door/man door. Looking at a 36x80 prehung door from HD. This is a non load bearing wall, and I've gone through and found the location I wanted for it and pulled away the drywall for the framing. I'd prefer to frame it out before venturing and cutting away the exterior sheathing and vinyl siding. My question is I'll have to cut the foundation down to slab level obviously, but would you rest the metal threshold directly onto the concrete or would you put down a PT bottom plate? Ideally I would want it flush with the garage floor since I will need to build out some steps on the exterior since its higher than grade.

Threshold on the concrete is fine. They even make flashing now that is pre made to fit the corners. I would use one of those as well, as well as some good urethane caulking for sealant. Adding a 2x will create a tripping hazard.

I placed mine directly on the floor. I used clear silicone to seal it to the steel frame.
