Where do you guys find signs and other such items for hanging in your garage? I am looking for a Craftsman sign to hang in mine. I have tried eBay and Craigslist and such with no luck. I even asked the mangers of two different sears stores with no luck. I did score a Valvoline beach towel I plan to hang up banner style.

I thought about having a local sign shop make me one, but I figured I might run into some sort of copyright stuff. I don't guess it would hurt to ask.

go to some of the bigger swap meets (auto and antique) or antique stores. It depends on what you're looking for exactly, but you can find some very unique things there.

Got a few plotters here too. Haven't cut much lately though.

I have bought some tin signs that are stuck out front...."Chevrolet Corvette", "Quality Authorized Ford Parts Used Here" and a few others. Inside I have some banners waiting to be hung, just old stuff my wife made and were used for various events...example: Johnny Walker Golf Tournament. A few others from stuff she did. If I can motivate her she can turn out some great stuff, been a paid graphic artist for over 15 years and amateur much longer.

I will be getting the plotters up and going this week. One is a printer plotter while the other only cuts.

I tried to buy a "Garageart.com" sign and those folks were so rude about it. The produced a proof for me on a custom sign but the letters they used were funky and hard to read. When I asked if they could change the font they went off on me that it would cost $75 and hour for custom work and all I wanted was one of their stock signs that I could read. When the deal fell apart the guy got real rude about it and accused me of running him around for nothing. I responded that I was buying a $150 sign and didn't I have the right to be satisfied? Just a word to the wise guys, be careful with these folks..................

Basically, you need to be looking everywhere, all of the time. The signs that I found came from places of business that were closing down. Its all about being at the right place at the right time. If a business is closing or changing product lines, be there asking about their signage before they have a chance to toss it out or dispose of it in another manner. Antique stores and junk shops are good places to look, but the demand for signs has pushed the prices up considerably the last few years.

Scott has it right, just always be on the look out.

I have a Summit banner inthe garage. We went to the innagural Summit Nationals when Norwalk switched from IHRA to NHRA. A couple of guys were driving around on a golf cart hanging banners. As the passed us I watched their pack of zip ties fall off the golf cart. I reached down and picked them up to give them back, they stopped about 40 feet away from us. I handed them out to the guy as he came back to get them. He said thanks and I joked with a smile that oughta be worth a banner. He grinned, walked back to the golf cart, grabbed a banner and handed it to me.

Sometimes, it's the right place at the right time.

If your wife has any friends into scrapbooking they might have a Cricut machine. You can use a special program and a computer and make whatever designs you want and cut them out in vinyl.

Like some others said one option is to make your own. Another fairly inexpensive option is reproduction signs. I've picked up some from Smokey Mountain Knife Works. Good luck.
