I think what I would do is to place a weed barrier first, then either crush + run (sometimes #22A with fines down to dust) around the edges. You could also use pea gravel as well if you liked the look better. The crusher run would be more structural when it packs down, eventually, the pea gravel is like ball bearings more or less.

I think its more of an appearance issue, if you had a structural fail inside the shop on the slab then it would be a different story.

Thanks matt_i. Here are two pics during rain. Sorry for the sideways pics. Trying to figure out rotation.

I'd put some gravel down and push it under. You really should grade away from the slab if possible. being in the south with no ice problems, maybe add gutters as well.

1. Gutters and downspouts both sides. I just had the south side gutter and downspouts replaced from the cheap plastic to continuous aluminum gutter with downspout and it was around $250.00 for 49.5 feet. I would do both sides.

2. They put in gravel per the recommendation of the others.

that condition is caused by the rain splashing against the ground and then splashing against the building which is then using gravity to remove the soil.

Hello from south alabama.

Above are some good ideas. Gutters, slope and crushed rock.
I'd dig out dirt, install a weed barrier and then put down rock and have it sloped with perhaps a french drain down below.
