For any of you out there who are into studio-quality stereo system design...

I need some expert advice on designing a system for my garage.

WHERE
- Garage
- 30' x 40' Area
- 10' Walls
- Wood (OSB) covered walls
- Sheet-Metal covered ceiling (10' AGL)
- Concrete Floor (w/ ~0.5" thick rubber-type epoxy covering)

WHAT
- Garage is for "Man-Cave", "Party-Pad", etc
- Will have DVD Player connected to system (via either HDMI, or RCA L/R)
- Will have PC connected to system (via phono->RCA; L/R adapter)

OBJECTIVE
- Provide deep "physical-felt" bass, primarly from music listening
- Provide crystal-clear high-end/mid
- Lastly, there is a bit of echo -- if reasonable to fit into budget, I might try some acoustic treatment.

I'd like advice on designing the system, and figuring out what type of subwoofers, and main high/mid speakers, plus receiver.

It all comes down to "how much do you want to spend?" Sky is the limit in audio, so you could go from a couple hundred to 10s of thousands.... A good place to look up speakers is AVSforums...

I just went through this with my garage (20x20 btw). My budget was $400 and I was able to get 4x Polk Monitor 30 for my satellites, a Polk CS10 center, and a Polk PSW10 sub. I literally just ordered those speakers this week, so I haven't received / installed / tested them yet.
I learnt in a hurry that good, big systems can easily get into the thousands. My brother-in-law recently bought a $1000 sub! :wtf:

Like Killer95Stang said, check the audio forums for their take on high end systems. I 'kinda' knew what I was looking for and just spent a lot of time reading reviews. It's a bit frustrating because there are soooo many options out there. I finally settled on Polk and found the best combination for $400. I'm sure the neighbors will be complaining :bounce:

Good luck in your search!

Two Cerwin-Vega XLS-15's, powered by a Harmon Kardon 120 receiver.

=) Hope so.

Changed it a bit, same receiver, but instead of the XLS-15's, I'm getting the XLS-215's... that should really rock.
