I'm curious about how garage owners in the UK have tackled their storage needs. I'm particularly interested in hearing about different approaches to keeping tools, equipment, and other items organized in the garage. Share your experiences and ideas with me! Thanks!

Fellow Brit here, most of us have it very different to the average garage on here!

Interested to see what people come up with. I have a single car detached, with no car in there. I built a bench across the back that has shelves underneath, bought some racking from ebay and repurposed some bookcases.

I bought 3x very budget 24" tool chests from Amazon and a couple of tool carts as well. One of the tool carts has my bandsaw on it, hinged to the wall so I can rotate it out for longer cuts. My mitre saw is wall mounted and just needs lifting and propping up when I want to use it.

Wall cabinet for power tools. Other stuff hung up on screws or brackets.

No pics, sorry!

When we lived in NJ we had 1 car garage that was crammed full of stuff. My Mustang, my woodworking tools, garden tools, tool box, workbench, washer, dryer, spare freezer, water heater, & furnace. I made 2 over the garage door storage shelves to store the parts for the Mustang since that house had no basement.

@Mike65 I wish I had headroom for something like that. I'm able to walk around without stooping in mine, and I have some things stored up between the rafters, but nothing like that much room

my secrete tool is loops of twine and peg board hooks
different sizes loops allow me to hang long handled stuff at different heights
abd thus nest them

Have you investigated those shelves that hang over the car? I built one 4’ X 8’ that I suspended from the chords of the roof trusses. I used 3/8” running thread rod in the corners and 2X4 cross piece’s to hang the 4X8 OSB shelf over my clients car.
Low cost per square foot of storage.
