I have been thinking about a theme for my new garage remodel. My wife is working on a design for me for the back wall of the garage. What we are thinking about doing is painting the back wall of the garage like the front of a gas station or truck stop. In the middle of the wall will be French doors and above that a small corrugated roof. The roof would tilt to allow for storage on shelves hidden behind it.

On the other side of the doors would be a bathroom on the left and a wet bar on the right with cabinets and some other vintage memorabilia. The idea is to give the feeling that you’re walking out of the garage into another building as if you’re parked outside of it. I’m figuring that back wall would be a cool place to put some nice vintage signs and maybe some neon. Similar to the photo except only on the back wall of the garage. Might also be a great place for a vintage soda machine too.

Actually I expect to get the building permit tomorrow. My builder already has the first $10k installment. Thanks for the well wishes...

I still don't have a building permit yet (completely different topic I guess). My wife and I both have art backgrounds so we don't see this as a big project. She's got a degree in photography and we are hoping to use the garage to take some pinup photos once its done. Yes, we'll post some of the pictures here. We still haven't decided the exact them, but that's largely going to depend on what artifacts we're able to dig up. First thing first though, we need to get the garage expansion project going because the wall we want to decorate isn't in existance yet :(

If you have a station within your garage like in the picture, it would be kind cool to have a manikin behind the couter, with a name like "Babu."

I'll take some before pictures this weekend. I asked my builder "who he needed to blow to get a permit" and suggested I might be able to give him another $20.00 to get it going. Luckily he's a pretty good friend... Still as of now I have no permit :)

I'm also getting the wife to help with the design so we'll be doing some yard sales and such to find stuff to mount. Should be a fun summer. There will be a bar behind that wall and we've also considered putting window in the bar that would look out into the garage. Basically just need to frame it in and have a single piece of glass cut. It's not a load bearing wall so it should be easy.
