Since there's a heating and AC section, but not a plumbing section, I figured I'd post this here.

So I'm in the midst of planning for a much needed garage bathroom. Space is tight in the intended area, so I got this crazy idea. I should seek out one of those stainless steel sink toilet combo things like you see in jail. (DAMHIK) A little quick googling....

Holy mackerel! Those suckers are $2500+ a pop!

I'm back to looking at normal law abiding plumbing fixtures now.

I just thought I'd share.

The service station I worked at as a kid had a dual purpose sink in the broom closet. There was a real restroom around back but rarely used by employees.

Hopefully that sink had a garbage disposal!:spit:

While looking for a funny image for this thread I found this item that is a sink top for a traditional toilet. The sink comes on when you flush the toilette and stops when the tank is full. The waste water from the sink fills the toilet tank. Pretty neat idea if space is limited: Here is a photo and the link:

Here is a link to buy it. it is a little over $100. http://sinkpositive.com/site/store/

I actually saw that gizmo Shadow, but I don't think I could put it in to practice, not in a garage anyhow. Maybe for a quick wash in a powder room, but for rinsing fast orange and filth off off my grimy mitts I don't see that trickle happening. Plus, I'm not sure I want all that gritty grimy sludge hanging out in my toilet tank.

Edit: maybe to save room I could just put in a urinal and a sink and go to the house for #2's.

My shop isn't heated so I go outside and use a tree for #1, The house for #2, and these gojo towels to clean my hands. There are like 225 towels and I get them for a little over $20 a tub. Watch we're you get them because they have a smaller tub that some places like Fassenel sell for the same price.

If you have heat and the room a toilette and a small sink would be great!!

Many years ago, a buddy of mine had a detached 2-car out behind the house. He just drilled a hole in the back wall of the garage, stuck a transmission funnel in the hole. Went out to the other side, stuck a piece of heater hose on it, down into the weeds. Instant urinal. We drank lots o' beer back then, and the $2 urinal was well-used.

Nothing wrong with a dual-purpose sink, as long as you are polite enough to move the dishes aside before urinating there.

All compromising aside, I put a full bath in my shop, for a number of reasons, including the possibility of being tossed from the house by SWMBO.

I have a fridge, plenty of power for a stove/oven and can cook with a torch if needed, so a bathroom was a natural thing to close the loop.
It is plumbed for a corner shower under those boxes in the corner. I just haven't found the right deal on a shower pan.

Actually that toilet sink combo sis a good idea to help save water. If you had a house full of females that constantly use the bathroom.

I put a regular (cheap) toilet in my garage.

Here's the toilet in my garage. Nothing fancy like the stainless one, but it works fine for me!

I know this thread has been quiet for a while now but....................I just picked up a jail sink/toilet combo today. It is pretty damn cool. The guy has one more outback of his shop. He wants $150 for it. 100% stainless steel. They were removed from a prison here in NC. I don't have a pic at the moment but can get one if anyone is interested.

I cut a 3/4" PVC trap into the existing drain and put a funnel on it. It's the piss that most often comes up.
