I have a 16'x7' door, with just a single torsion spring. Seems like the setup is wrong; new garage door opener seems like it struggles. Was trying to disregard the spring that's on there, and do a fresh calculation and just get new springs. Everything unwound when I manually lifted the door when the power went out.

If anyone can help out, I'd really appreciate it. Just trying to calculate which size springs to get. Need some ventilation again so I can keep TIG welding. Thanks!

16'x7' Door

12" radius

400-8 drums

175 lbs.

1" torsion rod

A single spring would be a .262-2-33.5

A pair of springs would be .207-2-21.5 or maybe .207-1.75-24

What spring is on there?

How does it open by hand, does it feel heavy or open easily? When you close it by hand, does it stay open when closed halfway or so, or does it drop by it's own weight?
