Wife doesn't like loud music. I do. A few years ago I bought an Outlaw integrated amp and a pair of Definitive speakers to use in our small house when wife is out playing cards. We recently moved to a house with a detached garage I've been fixing up. The Outlaw and Definitives will be set up out there next week. I may celebrate with some Ripple and Jessi Colter.

I like music and have a full 5 speaker set up in my garage. But for those that don't want to go the built in rout or like the idea of being able to take it with you for other events i'd recommend the ION Block Rocker. I'm amazed at how loud this thing gets with no distortion. I'd bet you can hear it clearly from a 100 yards away but haven't walked out that far and tested it.

You can also charge it and play it all day and may even be able to get two full days out of a charge. I used it 8 hours or so this weekend cranked up at a crawfish boil we had and it had 3/4 of the battery left.

I got mine on sale for $99 and i'm sure if you search around on Amazon you will find something close to that price if not less. It's 100 times better than the dewalt speaker i have or any other Bluetooth I've had.

I have a 40" Samsung TV and use it to play Pandora... it's plenty loud with out being obnoxious.

My setup consists of a Pioneer Elite A/V receiver, 5-disc CD player, Bose AM5 speakers and a 42-inch flat screen that allows me to watch Directv or listen to XM satellite radio.

I picked up my garage stereo at an estate sale. The Onkyo receiver cost all of $5, and the pair of Advent speaker were $15.

One warning on speakers from the 1980s or so. The foam ring that mounts the paper cone to the speaker frame degrades as it ages. The first time I turned up the volume to a moderate level one of the rings disintegrated. Thinking it was just a bad speaker I searched ebay for a replacement and found reasonably priced repair kits. I replaced both of the foam rings and was amazed at how gummy and fragile the old ones were. The repair itself was easy and the speakers now sound fantastic. Plus the new rings are made of a new material that will not break down.

I currently have a boston alarm clock. Single speaker. It sounds really good. I had it in my room and the lightening fried the clock. It just doesn't seem to work and looses time. The display is week. The stereo portion works fine. It has a Aux input and you can also wire speakers to it. I have thought about a cheap battery power Bluetooth dongle for AUX input, but I just leave a cable hanging down on my work bench. Works fine. Loved it in my room. The ring for the snooze was great. Just wish I had it on surge protector when it was in there.

I salvaged a 27 inch monitor a few months back. It's currently being used for my laptop. It has a hum to it that is kind of annoying so I'm not sure it will stay in my office. Love the size of the screen so I may just pop for a nice one from Newegg. This one is super ugly with no surround. It was from a kiosk for a video game display that I found next to a dumpster. The store was throwing it out. It had a large metal stand that I recycled with my cans. It has speakers and a sub woofer that came with it. They are OK, but not great. I thought about building a pallet wood surround for it. From a distance the hum would not be noticeable. From my desk it is. Thinking of wall mounting it with a cheap sound bar under it. It has an single HDMI input. I have a old style google chromecast that I use for motels when I travel for work (stream movies or DVR stuff from my laptop). Most of the sound bars have bluetooth these days. I have found them for under 100 bucks. It would work pretty well and I can stream anything from Motocross races to videos from Youtube. Most of the radio stations I listen to can also be streamed online. It would be a nice modern update to the garage for minimal cash.
