Garage TV's

I started with a 20 incher and added a Sony surround sound system (which has a built in FM stereo radio, plays CDs, JPEGs). Later I added an LG 37 inch LCD unit and switched the surround sound to it. I kept the 20 inch TV because it is mounted over my treadmill. Sometimes I watch an old tape while walking. The TVs keep me company when I am tinkering in the garage. I also host Red Sox Yankee games in the garage. Good company and plenty of food. :)

It is really nice to have gatherings in the garage most of the time for the race. Drop or spill whatever you want easy cleanup just use the hose.

There's a 20" up in a corner of my shop - primarily to listen to FOX News:

& a 32" in the garage itself:

with a new 37" HD in a box awaiting installation.

I have a 36" in the corner on the workbench at somepoint when other projects allow time I will build a steel shelf for it in the corner above the bench.

My G/f just told me she wanted a 42-46" LCD in the garage...I have such a nice G/f.

She has a large family so if everyone is over we are going to be taking up 3 large rooms. Living room, Basement (home theater room), and Garage. And need a TV for each one.

A lot of you guys have bigger and fancier TV systems in your garage than I have in my living room.

I have 16" B&W on a high shelf that will be on the curb after the digital switch over, since a converter box would be a wast on it. I seldom use it anyway and usually just turn on my yard sale stereo.

It hasn't been an issue for me. However, I don't put expensive tv's out there, so it isn't a big deal if something does happen. I built mine into my washer/dryer closet, as I have little wall space elsewhere.

I think that's the first time I recall seeing your shop Nissan! Let's see the rest of it!!
I just keep wiping the TV off!!! LOL.DR.
Yup - that;s what I have to do!!
My friends say I did just this just to be a jerk 50"

Great shop!!! What is all that equipment and what do you work on? Do you have a garage thread going on?? Thanks!
Remember to keep a remote in the car. That way you can watch a few more minutes of the game while waiting for the wife.
Brilliant Sammer - just brilliant!!
Just painted my wall for a 110 inch projection screen in my garage.

But why did you just paint where the TV is going?!?!?:headscrat:bounce:

I have an OLD 19" - it was Mrs. E-tek's when she was single. Only time it's on is on winter weekend mornings for POWERBLOCK.

I have a TV in my garage so that on Sunday afternoons while I'm watching racing I can get some work done on my cars. It's my version of multi-tasking.

Did you paint that Washer and Dryer? My folks used to have a set just like that. Kenmore from around 1988-1989. They were white though. My brother still has the washer even. Talk about some TOUGH equipment! Lots of undies cleaned in them!

Got my lights in above the screen finally working.

The bass cabinet is on a carpeted dolly for now but you can get an idea of what it will be like when it is resting on furniture sliders.

I have a little 13 color that was a freebie a friend gave me. Mine is a real old RCA with a crude remote. I did put the converter on it with the digital switch and it is great, good color, and the reception is now as good as cable! I don't really use it much though, I turn it on around 5:00 to catch the evening news if I am tinkering or something but that is about all. Keep in mind though I only have the cost of the converter in mine, nothing more.

Just got done installing a 100" pull down screen with a projector in my garage. Was roughly the same cost as a 40" flat screen and don't have to worry about someone knocking it over.

Here´s mine, just a cheap 32 from Best Buy. Between my wife and her friends and my daughter and her friends I had to have something out here to watch sports.
I just mounted it on top of the cabinets and tweaked the angle a bit for easier viewing if I have the guys over for a game and we´re sitting.

That is awesome but I don't think any work would ever get done, Id rather have that in my gameroom.

I agree. No TV allowed in my garage. In fact, since the switch to digital TV, my Wife wants to replace the TV in the house with an old fashioned bookcase. :bounce:

We only have 1 tv in the house. 52" in the living room :)

I don't have 1 in the garage. The garage is for cranking up tunes and pounding

My garage is for working not watching TV!

Oh, wait.. I have a barn instead of a garage, so I'm exempt :) Here's the "office" (currently a mini-rec room) just outside my workshop space.

I don't get it? Why need a TV in the garage?

There are plenty of times when I would like to catch up on the news, or there is a race on, etc, and just having it playing in the background while I work is nice, I can always look up from what I'm doing if I want to check it out...or take a break and have a beer, etc.

Another thing is that if I am watching the kids, and have my three and a half year old daughter with me out in the garage, she can watch something.

I will be replacing the 50" plasma in the house pretty soon, so I can't wait to retire that to the garage wall.

I mounted one under the mezzanine. A 42" that is great when buddies drop over for a hockey game and beer.

Just a small 13" in the corner mounted on a swivel that is mounted on a 2x6. Looking to redo to a 32" or a flat screen when the weather breaks so I can redo the garage.
