Garage update with pics

A little over a year ago I had a 2-car garage built. I don't live on a big lot so my MAX size i could go was 22x24... which is fine for my first house.... Here is a pic of when it was first finished.... I decided to just do a shell as I would eventually finish the inside myself...

Before:

Over the last few months I have added more lighting, full insulation, sheetrock, spackle, and finally paint. ALL myself which was very rewarding... This past weekend I started to put some things on the wall and dress it up a little... Although I am far from done please see what I have done so far.... I still have to finish the ceiling and also purchase my race deck floor....

After:

I gave my wife a cabinet for her stuff, until I build a shed next year to house her garden tools flower stuff etc.

Oh and that's my first truck I built an 89 Nissan 6" lift and 35's ---->

Thanks Dipper..... Yeah I liked that combo so I hijacked it from others and you also... clean and classic look..... your Garage is nice also.....

I will add more pics after I get everything back into the cabinets and neaten up the place a little... next I am going to use diamond plate as the base molding between the sheet rock and the concrete block

What was your technique to painting a straight red line?

I actually found the info here from another member... I had initally did a search on "painting stripes" and followed the instructions... but I will recap here and add my own idea as well.

First decide on how high you want the stripe to be. Mine begins about 24" from the top of the cinder block and ends at 29" so it's a 5" stripe.

once I had it marked I used a level to make the lines all the way around the garage TWICE. I made sure that besides the marks, I used the bubble in the level to ensure it was perfectly straight....

Once I completed the pencil line I began to lay the 3/4" painters tape..... Here is where it gets dicey.... for some reason if I tried to just lay the tape on the line... when i pressed it down it was not completely straight..... So I tried another method.... pressing my head again the wall.... I tried it the way CHIP FOOSE would on a car.... just pull a long amount of tape out and eyeball it up to the wall and let it stick itself straight (confused)... i was too but it works

Once I had it laid out i used 2" tape on top to ensure i would not go over....

then as it was stated in another thread you HAVE to paint over the stripe to BED it into the wall to prevent bleed through... obviously you have to use your light color on the top and your darker color on the bottom to bed it in...

Once you do that.... let it dry and then go back and paint your stripe.... mine took 3 coats to acheive the look I wanted...

To remove the tape... i let mine completely dry...overnight and then pull the tape practically over itself to remove.... slowly.... and in a few cases where it looked like it was going to peel up....i used a razor to cut it before i pulled.....

I hope this explains it.... i get wordy sometimes

Heck, all I did was measure from the top, marked my measurements scored my line using a flat edge and painted by hand along my lines. Why? Because I used OSB and taping was not practical due to the inconsistency of the board. It did come out nice. 4' of white on top to reflectthe light:

Awesome looking garage, you did a great job on it. Very clean. I have a question though. Why the concrete block base on which to build the walls? This a requirement in your area? Just curious...
