Garage Wall Alternatives

I have contracted to have the building insulated and the ceiling drywall put in. The shop wall height 20wx24dx10h. I am looking for wall alternatives, other than pegboard or drywall, such as slotwall. It will be used to house a small car lift for a show car. I will want to be able to hang tools, supplies, etc. and will probably put in a few cabinets. Having them mounted to hang on slatboard would make them pretty versatile if i decide to move them so slatboard seems to be where I am leaning.

What do you suggest that is cool looking, functional yet not super expensive. I have seen some specialty panels 4x8 that run $200 per panel and that is above my budget since I need roughly 20 panels. Slatboard will run up to $58 per panel including delivery if I get through the local box stores.

I don't know if this would fit you taste or not but I used painted sheets of T-111. They came primed so they are much smoother and don't attract everything but money and women. My ceiling is nine feet so I put a six inch strip of OSB on the top and bottom of the wall and it looks great. The cool thing is I have a metric ton of **** hanging on the wall (including cabinets via French cleats) and have never had a problem.

You might try spacewall.com as they have 4 mfg plants scattered around the country and good prices and custom cutting and all different colors and reasonable prices. This stuff is very heavy so if you pickup needs a very heavy duty trailer or truck. They also have metal inserts if you need a very heavy duty storage system.

I would have to agree with painted T-111; this is inexpensive, choose any color you want and allows you to hang any anything, anywhere.
