By accident I read something someplace that has me concerned.
The wall adjacement to the living space has to have at least one 5/8" sheet of drywall on each side.... right? Or did I read that wrong? What is it supposed to be?
Im planning out my garage. It's an attached 3 car that is unfinished on 3 walls, however the adjacent wall has fiberglass insulation between the studs (2x4), with a layer of 2" blue hard insulation foam, then 3/8" T111. Hardly what I'd consider a firesafe wall.
MY fix?!?!? Was thinking of taking that wall back to the studs, possibly re-insulating it (more for sound issues), then putting up a double layer of 5/8" drywall, THEN doing whatever it is I want - on that wall in particular... 1/2" t111 to 4', pegboard to 8' and then shelving at the top. OR is wood on that wall a bad idea?
Help?
Edit - Remaining walls I planned on insulating (after running airlines and electric - both in conduit) and then facing with the same 1/2" t111 floor to ceiling and paint it all white.
