Hey guys. First post here. I’m in a new to me house and I lost my old detached garage/shop. This house has an attached 2 car garage. Aprox 20x20. No living space above. I’m setting it up for a woodshop. I just tore down the drywall on one noninsulated wall exterior wall. The other 2 walls should be insulated since they are connected to the house. My question is, should install a vapor barrier over the insulation before I cover it or is the backing paper enough? I will be drywalling and then adding tongue and groove pine. I plan on installing some kind of heat source to take the chill off when I’m working in there. Probably electric radiant. Has anyone else installed t&g on the walls? Can I leave in unfinished? Pics would be awesome. Thanks a lot. I’ll be on here a lot sucking up your wisdom

Where do you live? I don't normally see paper back used with vapor barrier.
I personally like the walls between house and garage insulated.
Is the attic insulated over the garage?

I normally only double up the vapor barrier in a living space where there is a lot of warm, humid air, however tacking a sheet of poly up on the other hand is cheap and helps kill that last bit of air propagation into your building.

Paper facing on insulation is supposed to be an adequate vapor barrier.

I could do wood wall covering but I'm in a tiny town with no codes to obey. Chances are a fire rated material is needed on at least the common walls.

I live in the suburbs of Philadelphia pa. The attic is open. There is only like 6 20’ 2x6s spanning the Garage. I will most likely add more and insulate it in the future.
