Garage with an attached house!

A "garage with an attached house" is what I like to call it, although the house is many times larger. The most important part of a home is what my garage and huge basement are to me

I thought I'd join to pick up on some tips and to provide them when I can.

I do all of my own work on my vehicles; cars and motorcycles.

So far I am equipped with a lathe, mill, oxy-acetylene torches, and I recently bought a four-cylinder, two stage, 80 gallon with a 7.5 hp motor compressor that I installed in my basement. It'll be used with my to-be-bought media blasting cabinet (in its own separate vented room in my basement) and paint booth (also in my basement).

My garage isn't a showpiece as some are, but it is ultra clean (can roll on the floor and then lie atop the comforter of my bed) and uncluttered.

Is this place fun or what...the garage that is.

Welcome to the fun and games of GJ, IMG. I take it either the paint shop in the basement is for bikes, or you have an outside door for cars and larger stuff?? It would be tuff getting a chassis in the front door, through the kitchen and down the steps. (And getting it back out without scratching the fresh paint...)

Garage-with-House is the right way to set priorities. Now you've got my interest up to see this clean and uncluttered garage. Exactly the opposite adjectives that I use, but I'm trying.

At 8'x 8', it'll be for things as large as a motorcycle frame, gas tank, alloy car wheels and small parts. I just hate getting over spray all over everything in the area. Been there.

I will one day when I get it set-up like my last garage. At the moment, at least its spotlessly clean, uncluttered and comfortable to work in. Its completely finished, but not painted.

Its big. really big...at least for a home unit. I had to disassemble it and carry the motor, pump and tank into the basement separately. Its so quiet that when I watch TV in the room above the compressor, I hardly hear it running.

Its a model DF-7580V by RK Compressor.

• V-4 cylinder cast iron pump – head, cylinders, aftercooler, intercooler, and pump body.
• Low RPM for longer life - 560 RPM
• Tapered roller bearings.
• Ten individual concentric disk valves .
• BALDOR industrial motor, low speed - 7.5 HP - 230V/1 phase.
• 717 pounds.
• 80 gallon tank.
• Automatic tank drain - ordered this option.
• Magnetic starter - ordered this option.
• 24 CFM @ 175 psi - so they say.

I ordered a slew of 3/4" pipe, fittings, etc from TopRing. Soon to be installed after I get the drywall up around the compressor.

Interesting unit you have there, I didn't know they made V-4 compressors in that size range. I just joined the V-4 club myself.

Ooops, I guess I forgot to mention that it is a two-stage pump; two larger and two smaller cylinders.
