What is that pattern I see on the floor in the lift pics? It looks like tile.

Otherwise, it looks good to me but they should paint the drywall.

yep it's tile from Germany....

it's in all the dealerships.. very very strong...

the person who is in charge of the building told us there was one building going up and a steel I beam for the AC units dropped from ceiling height (30 ft) right on to a floor just like that landing on the tip of the beam and it only took a quarter sized chip out of the tile

strong stuff

All the dealers I have been to you have to use your own tool boxs and carts.

Very cool, reminds me of the local Mercedes dealer, only they use blue lifts and workstations. Those black Lista cabinets would be perfect for my garage...too bad a set would cost more than my car.

It makes things uniform but it also gives them the right to go in your box at anytime they see fit. For most guys that isnt a problem but some people dont like it.

We recently got a tech who previously worked at a Carmax dealership. He came to use with several years experience as a tech and only a small tool cart with few tools.

Carmax provides techs a box and all tools. He said it mostly Matco stuff.

I'm not sure I'd like that. The obvious advantage of not spending $$ on tools is nice. But I like tools, one of my few pleasures at work is going on the tool truck and getting shiny new tools.

Hey, I feel cheated! I had to supply my own tools! OK, sorry, yes I heard at some Carmax locations they were supplying tool boxes so they could control the size (if they run more than 1 shift, the bays are shared and there isn't room for large tool boxes). As for tools, I thought only apprentices got a starter tool set from Matco, Carmax uses them as their supplier. Maybe things have changed (I've been off for over 2 years on work comp).
