I was browsing the interwebz the other night and finally decided to pull the trigger on the bigfloors "sale" for the GarageDeck. My plan is to tile the floor in the alloy color, use graphite for where the tires sit and put in a red border. It's only a 1 car garage so it should be easy enough.

Does anyone have any tips on laying this stuff? Work from front to back, back to front, side to side? What about cutting the tile? I'm pretty sure it's a VERY straightforward install but I'd like to hear some input before I jump in tomorrow night.

your color scheme is similar to mine:

i just finished putting mine in; so, forgive the mess. i started at the front, right hand corner. then facing the left hand wall, i worked sideways to the right and up. i did have to cut the left side of the red border a bit, but not a problem. i put one flow through tile over my drain and am glad i did because the tiles fit tight together (a good thing). have fun...

I did most of my garage today, as you see from the first picture there was quite a bit of **** on the floor and the workbenches. I've decided that within the next few months I'm going to build myself some new workbenches for the back wall as well as install the cabinets that are coming out of my kitchen within the next few weeks. With all that said I didn't bother moving the benches or cabinets out of the way to tile underneath, I'll take care of that when everything comes out for the build.

Install was easy. I first started laying them by pounding my fist on them to lock and eventually figured out that it was going to hurt by the end of the day and grabbed my rubber mallet. I also assembled about a 6x10 patch, centered it, then built off of that. I had to nudge things a little to get the sides even but it was pretty easy as it's not a big garage. I ended up ripping the tiles on my table saw with a fine tooth blade which worked well and I left about 1/2 inch around the edges for expansion, although it was 90 degrees and humid in the garage at the beginnning of the project so I'm not too sure it'll expand much further.

I have to say, all in all it's a nice product. There are definitely some casting marks on the surface from the grid underneath but this isn't a showroom and I think it looks great. I had some concern about my tool chest and my welder cart (both cheap-o items) being able to navigate the raised circle pattern but it was much easier than I expected.

So far I would recommend this product to others, although I haven't exactly "used" it yet.

On to the pics (sorry for the poor quality, I'll get some better ones tomorrow):

Looks really good, like the color combo
Such an improvement over chipped and stained concrete.
Did you patch holes in the floor or put the tile right over top?

I like the way the alloy color reflects a lot of light. Great color scheme! I was plotting something similar for my garage but was thinking of vct. How much was it for you to do it in the g'deck?

Somehow I missed all these questions. Let me try and answer them now, hopefully it's not too late!

How was the fit?

Pretty good. People complain about the gap between the tiles but I tried the water test and nothing seeped through. The theory of the surface tension being too great for the usual fluid seems to hold true. It helped that they arrived assembled in 2x2 pieces, went down like clock work.

I have a few but nothing of the engine bay, I'll post them below. Yes it's a FM sticker however it's from the suspenion not turbo setup. The turbo setup was pieced together and the manifold and downpipe were made by TurboTim (aka Absurdflow but before that became popular). I'm running 12 psi right now, still have some tuning work to do but it should be around the 200-210 whp mark.

The "hole" wasn't that big, I just put the tile over it and quite honestly I don't remember where it was but I can't really seem to find a soft spot.

It was $1.99 a sq. ft. for about 250 sq. ft. Bigfloors.com gives free shipping. After I factored in clean-up of the concrete (for both epoxy and vct) I decided the garagedeck was well worth it.

Thanks all for the compliments, and here's a few Miata shots:

Nice looking car! '91 BRG?
I had a '90 B package car that I did some suspension work to - what a blast to drive!
Still not sure why I sold it...
Garage looks great too by the way!

All on the ground unfortunately. Re-engineering the ceiling would take too much effort, and building a new garage isn't worth the investment in my current neighborhood. I'll save the lift for the next house.

Thats a bummer man. You could go with something portable or even not and just take it with you when you leave. But still the floor makes it shine. Congrats.
