I drilled holes in my recycling can. My garbage can has no holes so what ever liquid gets in there gets dumped in the garbage truck.

What do you do with the liquid when its drained out?

I am lost as to why bothering to put a drain or any hole for that matter on a tipper barrel, garbage or recycle? Any liquid in the tipper barrel will either evaporate or be dumped out the next time it is emptied. :headscrat

I run small outboards in a plastic G Can. Simple drilled and tapped 1/4 20 bolt. Unscrew the bolt and MT's nice and slow.

My HOA requires cans inside the garage except on pick up day... to my dismay, and they need to be cleaned/rinsed to prevent them from stinking. The blue one is the recycle bin, fairly manageable, but the actual garbage can is about twice that size.

If I’m not home to collect the cans, they leave the lids off and with rain in FL they fill up... now I just unscrew the drain, wheel them in... less lifting and getting wet

So the garbage sits in the garage for at least week before being picked up? Doesn't it start to smell before then cooking in the Florida heat?

Doesn't have to stink. Anything that will stink, keep it in the freezer in a plastic bag until trash day. Rinse out pop cans etc before throwing them in the toters.

We live in bear country, so if you don't do things right... the bears show you the error of your ways.

Haha... yeah about the most ferocious thing that we have to worry about in our area are raccoons...

You'd be surprised what lurks in your woods.

Google black bears Tampa.

I'm in south alabama. I get the rain and stinking water in the garbage can. I just pour bleach in it and a little water and dump it out.

Had a few minutes to add a convenience to my garbage cans... found these on Amazon:

Drain Valve Plug Kit.....

The way our trash guys treat the toters I can't imagine that plastic valve would last long.

They remind me of the gorilla and American Tourister luggage commercials from the early 70's.

And then any nastiness in your toter will be leaking onto the garage floor.
