Okay it's time to dispose of that old, hard as a rock, vinyl hose.

Do you guys have any suggestions? Looking for something light and flexible

I'd get something in the 5/8 to 3/4 inch diamater "kink" free. I like the rubber hose, they tend to wrap better on a hose cart or hose bracket..

I'll second that. I've got two fifty-foot Craftsman 5/8" black rubber hoses that appear to be pretty indestructible. They're very difficult to kink and they coil up or wrap very easily.

I have the same hose and have the same comments as you do. My reason for getting this hose was mainly it's the most common type of hose I see used in harsh construction applications and it seemd to hold up to that abuse very well.

PVC hose would become very stiff in Canada. I don't own the Craftsman/Sears hose but I think they have crush proof fittings, if you decide you want to drive over them

Remember that a larger diameter hose equals less pressure / more volume.

Until you constrict it at the end with a hose end sprayer or nozzle. Then bigger hose equals more water pressure and more water.

My father bought a dark green rubber 5/8" Craftsman hose back in the mid 80's. He still has it almost 20 years later and it has never been patched or cut shorter. Since we're not allowed to have sheds where we live it's also spent it's whole life outside in the weather. When winter comes it's disconnected from the faucet, drained of water, and rolled up and stored under the deck. That hose doesn't owe him anything!

I have two of the Craftsman hoses, they are great.. tried a Goodyear black rubber hose from Wallyworld.. it just plain is nasty, I get black stuff all over my hands every time I use it and it doesnt roll up very well either.. spend the money on the Craftsman and it has a lifetime warranty.

I have 4.

1 150' for the back reel. "heavier" green one (not rubber), drained in the winters and kept on the reel.

1 40'? Old one from dad, probably 20 yrs old. No problems

2 50' cheapies - $5 each from Lowe's. Works well for the sprinklers, but would not trust them otherwise.

Cold winters here too.. key is to drain them well.. I use my compressor.
