Was looking on getting my 1991 wagner sprayer out to paint my shipping container the other day. Got on Google to see what I should use to thin the paint and saw folks using pump sprayers for all types of paint.
Anyone tried it?

Yea waste of a good sprayer. Only worked on thin water based fence sealer stain. No way for latex or enamel. You would have to thin it so much it would take four coats or more to cover is my guess

15 years ago ,sherwin Williams ran a special it consisted of a garden sprayer and two gallon cans of wood sealer. It was not a big seller.

Sealers with a water like viscosity work good with pump sprayers but they would NOT spray paint without clogging or giving a poor paint pattern.
I suggest the "right tool for the job" and a paint sprayer would be the best option for spraying paint......Wasting time and money with a pump sprayer.
