I am looking for some ideas to store shovels, rakes, etc in my shed. The problem is that whatever I make has to attach to the floor (metal shed--I know, "should have built a wood one").

I am thinking of doing something with PVC so that the handles will slide into the PVC but not sure how to mount. I had one idea of building an L out of plywood and attaching the PVC to the upright of the L. Cut the pvc at an angle on both ends and screw to the upright plywood.

Trying to come up with an idea of mounting the pvc to the wood floor--some kind of cap with a flange?

Any ideas?

If you're determined to go the pvc tubes on plywood route, I'd suspend a sheet of 1/4 ply from a ceiling rafter, or use your idea and wire the top of the plywood to a ceiling rafter. That would eliminate having to make the base provide all the stability for a heavy bunch of tools.

Build a stud wall inside he shed and hang a piece of plywood or OSB on it to attach your PVC to. Build it in the corner and add bracing to the floor or build two walls in the corner making an L shape so they support each other.

I think Rubbermaid makes a unit that sits on the floor designed to hold garden tools.

Yeah one of my friend's has those. Not sure who makes it but it's like a free-standing base with a plate ~3'+ up with a bunch of holes in it to put your garden tools in. I think half is also open for larger or odd-shaped things.

Mine is lag bolted to the wall, but you would have to build some stud uprights and some L supports at the bottom. If it was bolted together I think it would work as a floor mount setup.

Glue a piece of plywood to the wall with construction adhesive, or build a 2x4 frame and glue it to the wall with construction adhesive. Then attach whatever commercially available implement rack system you like
