Garnet as an anti-slip additive?

Would garnet work as a decent anti-slip additive for an epoxy floor? I know it's a Moh's 7.5 instead of aluminum oxide's 9, but how well would it hold up in a residential garage? I've got tons of it and the color compliments the wall pretty well.

They make special additives just for epoxy anti-slip. The granules are much more rounded. If you're going to be spending any time on the floor, you definitely don't want sharp-edged grains. it'll be like working on a sheet of sandpaper.

I used sherwin williams "Shark Grip" in my floor. works great. provides anti-slip, but i can still run my hand, or a knee over the floor without taking off a layer of skin.

I would HIGHLY reccomend an additive specifically made for floor anti-slip.

I have used aluminum oxide (sharper, more aggressive), and a ceramic coated quartz (smooth, rounded, less aggressive) for anti-slip in epoxy floors. The quartz is good for areas that will have bare feet/skin, and they can also be used as a decorative accent as well. They are available ina variety of colors. I'm not sure if the quartz is the same as garnet, but it sounds similar. Both additives hold up well, although the aluminum oxide is "harder".

I would grab a loose test tile, and hit it with the epoxy/garnet to try it out!
