If you don't add a vent to those, the constant inflate and deflate of the container will over fatigue the plastic it will start leaking. My next one will have a vent.

HUH? I guess it's amazing that the old-style gas cans that I have had for 30, 40, or 50 years now that are completely sealed (pour spout and vent cap both seal when not being used) haven't fatigued and exploded by now... :wtf:

Being these look similar to the good working vents on some of My older cans; I just now ordered this pack to upgrade the newer cans.. I will use a pneumatic drill, rather than an electric, to drill a hole in the fume filled top of those gas cans. Not that I don't care for excitement; but I have some left over fire crackers I would rather use for the boom effect.
Glad to help. ALL of my gas cans have one. Do use the 31/64 drill bit though. Any larger and the vent will leak. Any smaller and you'll never get it in. It's a tight fit.

One of my 5 gallon diesel cans is this type, and I like it just fine. I can fill the tank on my tractor without using a funnel and not spill a drop.

The no spill cans are the ONLY ones I'll buy from now on. The spout is that much better than any of the EPA approved spouts.

The vent is supposed to stay closed. You only open when pouring.

The real problem is that you are storing your gas improperly if the temp is swinging that much

Store it properly without a vent? Sure, if I keep it inside the house. Daytime temps are about 100 and night time temps are about 75. Without a vent, those expensive no-spill gas cans get hammered.

wrt crazy California laws.
I know exactly how they come about.
Swedish lawmakers who wants to live in a place less restrictive on weed emigrate in the hundreds to California and take up their profession there.

If you think the Cal laws are wacky, please come to Sweden.
An idiot who stole a 5 ton truck and drove into people, killed and maimed many, is in jail and complain that he gets beaten up my other criminals. Now in the supreme court. Why not just hang him?. Because lawyers make money off of him.
The a-h is from Uzbekistan and should have been deported but our police, mainly sitting behind computers, "could not find him" . Over many months:

A lady from Ukrainia on vacation in Stockholm lost her leg in the crash is refused
an extended visa and has to leave the country.

Calif is a large state. So they are just trying to cut down on things that cause pollution such as venting tanks and containers. Non venting caps have been around forever. For a few people, no big deal. Add millions and now you have a very serious problem.2 stroke anything is soon if not already gone. We do have to breath !

In California, it is illegal to sell gas containers with the vent hole now; lucky I still have two 5 gallon containers that still have them.

+1 on the Justrite cans. I finally bought one and will never turn back. I need one (2 gal) for mixed gas for my lawn equip. I think gas will last longer in them with the seals. Smell in garage went away. I've bought at least 10 cans over the years. SMH

You can drill a hole in your can and put a pipe threaded plug in there that you can remove for a vent or buy a Blue diesel can and slap a 1203 sticker on it! Get rear creative and paint the blue Diesel can Red too.

I bought 2 this year because of this post - a 5-gallon for regular gas, and a 1-gallon for my 2-stroke equipment. I've been very pleased with both. They aren't cheap, but gone are the days of overly swollen plastic cans in the summer (and sunken in in the winter).

Another vote for VPRacing cans. I have 4 and will be buying 4 more in the not too distant future.

Who still has Blitz cans? Have 5 5 gallon jugs ( for my many OB boats), 2 2 gallon, and 2 1 gallon for diff motors. Decades old, still fine. NOT for sale yet!

They make two different caps / spout ring caps. Yellow and black. One is for fine threads the other for coarse. There is also a spacer ring that is needed on some cans to prevent leaks.

And if neither of those fit just use the ring that came with the can. I've only had to do that with one but if it works it works and the EPA cans just plain don't.

Brought to you by the same EPA that brought you the Animas river mishap.

So instead of a little venting you think it is OK to just spill half a cup of fuel with every pour.

Exactly, these emission compliant fuel cans are dangerous and worse for the environment than the old ones. Never spilled a drop with the old kind, spill all over the place with the new ones. Better for the environment my ***.

I did the valve stem trick to 4 of my cans. Two stems disintegrated and the other two are holding up. I obviously bought 2 different brands. Problem is, I don’t know which brand is holds up. Works really well.

Easy to find out. Go buy another pair... They will be the wrong ones. :lol_hitti
