Building a new 24x34 garage/shop, with 10 foot walls. Plan to insulate it after all the plumbing/electrical is in. What size natural gas heater would you recommend?

you need to heat it in Nevada I assume?

Will it be heated 24/7 or just when you plan on working there?

How many and what size doors?

How many and what size windows?

Reno gets snow.

I would hang around an HVAC contractor for a home remolding "take out."
Something in the 75K to 100K BTU range.

2 box fans, set to never off, and blowing down the long walls to make a "swirl" air current will save you on duct work.
Put them diagonally opposite each other.
The idea is continuous air movement.

I have two heated buildings, one 36x48 and the other 40x60, both with 14 foot ceilings. They each have Reznor hanging natural gas heaters of 100K BTU size. I am in western NY. You can probably use about 30K and be happy with it. It should cost around $700 brand new.

Head down to Menards and pick up one of these:

Beacon Morris 45K

Have same size garage as you in NE Ohio.... insulated.

Easy install, worked great for 7 years and counting.... brings it up from 50 to 65 degrees in about 20 to 30 minutes (in below zero weather). Gas bills have been reasonable.

Will do 1000 sqft or more.

My old 45k was not cutting it, took long to heat up my 1000 sq ft.....

I upgraded to a 75k and have been much happier

If you haven't completed the concrete floor as of yet, I would totally do a radiant floor yourself. It's 100% efficient. I did mine myself and love it. When your working on the floor or under something you will love it.

One other idea - you have high ceilings, so you could get a cheap-to-free natural gas "multipoise" (multi-position) furnace that can be operated in a horizontal mode - then hang it up in the rafters, preferably near a corner where you can duct the intake down to lower to the floor to pick up and circulate the cooler air.

Many modern gas furnaces can be used in either a horizontal or vertical orientation.
