I've tried it a couple of times, but with open shelves it's not worth it. I use a shop vac with a 24" wide suction broom. The shop is fairly large with a 1100 sf floorplan; however, everything thing is on wheels, and at least 6" up off the floor. Sso when the cars are out of the garage I can get the whole job done is under 10 minutes.

i use an electric on mine every month or so. it does throw dust everywhere, but gets the floor clean. i use it on my shelves first, then work on the floor.

no way i'd do it if i had an exposed short-block that i was working on. mostly just getting rid of sawdust/leaves/dirt/etc.

Personally, use greensweep. Moist wood mulch with a nice scent and apply and sweep it out, no dust and a nice clean floor with a nice scent.

I have a central vac outlet in my garage. Do you think I could find some sort of 24" wide nozzle to use with it? I dont really have anything beyond dust or occasional sawdust, no nails or screws, that sort of thing.

OK, you guys who use a leaf blower to clean your garage: Admit it, your wife doesn't allow you to clean anything in the house, does she?

Let's see I use the 30gal air compressor, electric blower, small gas blower and the kick *** back pack blower to clean the garage. I do admit I not allowed to clean anything inside the house. It's in the martial contract I signed the house is hers and the attic, yard and garage is my responsibility.

Plus 10 on a electric blower. Works great on my attached garage... just the right power and no gas fumes in the house .... all the tools in the pic are B&D 32 volt. Worked the **** out of all of them in my yards for 3 years now and not a problem with any of them. One of my 3 lithium batteries is finally not taking full charge. The weed eater has taken a beating and still going.

For the pole barn, dewalt blower every time. Just for dust and dead bugs and such. Anything big gets swept and picked up with the dust pan first.

Other than dead of winter, if im in the shop, both end roll up doors are open. Always a nice breeze. Unfortunately, that also means lots of debris. Depending on use, been blowing it out at least once a week and sometimes more if needed. Quick and easy.

Leaf blower in my garage, no. The house garage on the other hand, yes it's great to blow out the leaves that occasionally accumulate and stones from the driveway.

I normally use my air compressor with a blow gun attachment. I also have a electric leaf blower that I use strictly to dry cars after washing them. I will use that sometimes to blow out the garage. I also have a gas echo blower. Used that as well.

If everything in your garage is getting covered in dust then you aren't cleaning the garage enough. I think I need to blow out my garage maybe once every other month. I spend more time cleaning the floor which dust/dirt would be there and if not cleaned just attracts more. The ONLY time I end up having a cloud of whatever being blown through the garage is if I take something off the truck and grinding it, and there are metal dust shavings on the ground, or if I for some reason decide to cut wood in the garage and there is some saw dust.

I am also wondering where this "dust cloud" everyone is talking about is coming from.

If its dirty enough to create a big dust cloud, it should be swept first.

I get very little dust cloud when I use the blower on mine but im not using it for big piles of dirt either.

Me either... Unless I just did a ton of sanding.... Then I just break out the wet/dry vac...

I find that if i have both garage doors & start sweeping it still gets a dust cloud. If I sweep with the doors shut I get a dust cloud.

Is there something I can put on the floor while sweeping to make it not dusty?
