I know its really hot right now, but I've been thinking about running black iron pipe in my shop for LP gas heaters.
I was looking at the radiant 60,000 BTU heaters and I think I'm going to need about three of them for my uninsulated 40x60 building.
These are not being installed to live in the shop, but rather for heating it up for working on various projects for 3-4 hours at a time.

My question is, how do you calculate pipe size for LP gas lines to make sure that they are big enough?

I was planning to let the LP gas supplier install the regulator and tank (and pressure test) so that everything is sized correctly outside.

If you had higher usage, a min-split heat pump with multiple air handlers would be a good fit, with the bonus of A/C for basically no additional cost. Installation costs would be higher, but you would save a lot over the cost of propane.

I'd start watching CL like hawk for ANY and ALL cheap insulation before I'd try to heat a 40' x 60' building with NO INSULATION.

Surely you'll be working towards INSULATING . . . right ?? If not, you'll be paying big bucks to put heat into building, only to have it leak right out.

I eventually will insulate the building, but I wanted to get this piping thing done during the warm months.

Great link A_P. !
