I'am getting ready to run a gas line to my shop. I had the gas company out and the guy said if I came off the meter side of the line I could bury my own. line and it would be cheaper. doesany one know where you can get 1" plastic line rated for gas line?

Around here you can get plastic gas line but it has metal risers fused to the ends where it comes above grade. Consequently you have to measure the length very close. We dug our trench and then ran garden hose down the trench to simulate the line and measured the total length including the riser height. Your suppliers there will be able to tell you the information you will need. Here we had to order it through the gas fitter that was doing the hook up.

Most places you can order the yellow gas line and the risers from the local plumbing supply place ( I had to buy a whole roll of the pipe 500').

The risers are a one time use item, you cut the line to length and then insert it into the risers and it has barbs the bite into the pipe, you can not remove it after it's once installed. You will also need brackets to attach the risers to the foundation of your buildings..

Yellow gas line with the proper terminations. In my area I needed a plastic to metal transition that ran horizontal and the vertical legs needed to be steel pipe with 30 mil tape. Also need a tracer wire that runs along the length of the pipe so that they can trace after completion since the plastic can't be detected with a metal detector. Now I hear that the transition is a sweep elbow. I think they want steel coming out of the grouns and have some of the metal at a right angle to prevent torque breakage of the plastic pipe.
