Watching the episode where the 65 T-bird is there main car. They only showed it for a split second, but they had a US General tool cab. Couldn't tell if it was 44" or bigger but that don't matter lol. No joke, no lie. Anyone else see it?

I know a lot of professionals that use mid range tool boxes. When I ask them how they like it they just say it works. You don't need a 16,000$ tool box, it doesn't get the job done any faster. Not everyone likes to wax their box and organize every tool individually.

That said I want a 84'' Epiq with all the power options, a hutch, and graphics and chrome, ect.

There is alot of snap on boxes in there though. Probably used as a speciality box or for less used stuff. Good use for that

Still ... this is just a little more then a pro shop.. lol

Maybe it's just me but I wouldn't use the word pro with gas monkey.

I remember when OCC started out they had a small craftsman tool box and a small miller welder. With in a few years they had so many snap on tool boxes floating around it wasn't funny. They had an extra one just sitting outside in a storage trailer.

They haven't been on long enough (or don't have the ratings yet) to have a top-tier sponsor like Mac or Matco.

Give it time.

I like gas monkey problem is if they had a sponsor they would most likely sell all the merchandise.

GasMonkey is RIGHT around the corner from my shop (less than 1/4 Miles). The Last show (Stung by a Stingray) one of My Tow Trucks happened to be driving down their steet during filming (was when they were in the Evil Knievel car) . Was cool to see.

Don't kid yourself. All these shows, once they make it big, make more money from thier TV contract and selling swag than they ever did with their primary business.

OCC, Pawn Start, Bearing Sea Gold, American Pickers, etc.

But they don't NEED it lol

I don't know that much about their financial situation for sure but if you look when the show first started they didn't have much to work with. A smaller shop that looks to be in the backyard of something. His "world headquarters" was out of a trailer. I'm sure he makes a decent living but I don't think they were super rich before the show. I could be wrong and just going off observations from the show.

What surprised me was that Ford had dual piston brakes as an option in 1965. Did they use a floating disk?

it was defintly a HF box, i saw it too, but i really like that show, its nice to see a show on working on cars and showing things instead of just people fighting and the BS they put on TV. like when OCC was just starting and it was a good show, now all that is just **** TV.

Actually it's a four piston caliper, 1965 Mustang used similar but smaller caliper.

They hardly do that now....it stuns me that Ford did that in the mid 60's. You would think that would have been the hot setup for any quick street rod. I would imagine the rotors are pretty expensive.

Oh wait a minute! What am I thinking...these are Kelsey Hayes calipers. I didn't know Ford used them as an option...

I read on there website that his primary idea was "start a garage and make make/sell a tv-show about it". Making the tv-show their primary business.
Watching them trowing stupid money at a car, and then loosing it at an auction, starts to make atleast a little bit more sense...:D

I read this a while back and it says he was pimping the tv show idea for a while. I also like the show. It's about the cars without the drama like OCC. Or that bozo on graveyard cars. I would watch that show if the owner would just shut up and stop trying to be Paul Sr. He really knows old Mopars and it looks like he does fantastic work. I just can't stand the guy.

Also for Gas Monkey, if you go to their site, you can find all the T-shirts and what not so he's gonna milk it for all he can. Like Pawn Stars. I was in Vegas earlier this month and I stopped in there. They got ChumLee everything. That was like all people were buying. I would do the same thing, if I could.

I agree 100%. I watch the show..even though I dont watch much TV.

But I feel this show may eventually turn into a drama show as well..and probably get better ratings..hate that about TV..

He financed Gas Monkey by selling his advertising business for $8Million

Sometimes people are talented, other times they just fall into it.

I saw on Top Gear that Chum-Lee owns a Masterati Quattroporte. I know it's hard to believe but Chum-Lee was on Top Gear. I swear I saw him on there with Rick. He's kind of an alternate universe bizaro-world character...exactly what is his talent? Whatever it is, it's enough to buy a $120,000 car with.

Richard Rawlings is an odd combination. Richard Rawlings and Dennis Collins hold the record for the Cannonball Baker Sea-to-Shining-Sea Memorial Trophy Dash Record. 32:51. They are described as: "Collins and Rawlings are notably two of the fiercest competitors on the rallying scene"

He really seems to have a good on screen personality.

Mark Worman of Graveyard Carz...don't know much about this guy. It seems though that they make and produce more of the show than anyone else. He sold the first season to Velocity for $500.00 an episode to get it going...now I guess it will be much more.

It seems his real business is collision repair and as a side, restoration. I'm at a bit of a loss to see how this show would help him. Would you send your rare Mopar Superbird there for a $100,000 restoration? He constantly claims his crew are morons and at one point was calling his son-in-law "long turd".

I don't know...I just work on my stuff and hope I don't I don't get hit my a meteorite.

I have to say that I am not impressed by the workmanship of the restorations. There's a lot of shortcuts and effort to make things just good enough to last through the auction and screw the future longevity.

There is a difference between someone doing the job because they love it versus doing it for a TV buck.

I've seen the HF box there in some of the older episodes too. The green Maximizer box with hutch and lockers must be one of those new guys. There was also what looked like a Classic 78 with a skin. Few roll carts etc.

Even on Inside West Coast Customs, there metal fab guy had that monster snap on box, but everyone else had Maximizers, from the sponsorship.

you forget about the guys who do it to make a quick buck regardless.... making thing good enough to get sold isn't something new to flippers

Haha it's amazing some of the things people pick out. I am one of course, I noticed on one episode, they had a half pallet of O'Reilly Brake Cleaner on the shop floor.
