I currently have a furnace in my garage on the floor, it's higher output than is required and takes up a lot of floor space. I'm installing a ceiling mounted unit heater so need to change some plumbing. Currently the furnace is against an exterior wall of the detached garage, gas line comes in low through the block wall.
I want to mount he unit heater on the ceiling above where the furnace currently is, and run the gas line vertically outside, then come through the wall up high. It will pass through a 2x4 wall insulated with fiberglass batts and finished with T1-11 outside and OSB inside. How do I seal this wall penetration? Is there some sort of flanged sleeve I can install from the outside with caulk to seal it and caulk or foam between sleeve and black pipe? What is typically done to seal black pipe through a regular framed wall? This penetration will be about 11" below the soffit overhang, so a relatively dry location.
